This is true since most tourists reach Athens center on the X95 Express bus from Eleftherios Venizelos airport, or the metro via the suburban train. The X95 express airport bus terminal is found at the south east corner of Syntagma square. Syntagma in Greek means Constitution and this Square is the most important square of all Athens, as its name... More

We drove by the Square on a bus and then ended up walking back to the square. We were told the changing of the guard was something worth seeing. We were misled. The square smelled like urine. When we stepped up to the Parliament Building we were accosted by a man with feed for the pigeons. He wanted to get... More

When you are in Greece you will definitaly go here. This is the square in front of the Greek Parliament. You can just sit around or have a coffee in the nearby coffee shops. Go see the soldiers that are in front of the Parliament and the Monument of the Unknown Soldier. This is the Center of Athens, no one... More

Tip 1: Beware of pickpocket! They are everywhere in this square Tip 2: The one best thing about this square is the free wifi, as soon as you get to this metro station, you can switch on your smartphone and activate the free wifi. Tip 3: The square itself has nothing much to see, it is a point to get... More

It is so beautiful to see the Evzones to stand still at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. You fill with national pride for the fact that you are Greek.

The focal point of Athens is a wide open space, but it's actually quite small in relative terms, when compared to similar spots like Trafalgar Square and the Grand Place. Framed on one side by the Parliament building and on another by Hotel Grand Bretagne, it's a place you'll find yourself coming back to frequently as you make your way... More

the interactive map on this page currently shows completely the wrong location for Syntagma square. The pin is actually in Metaxurgeo square, about 2km north west os the actual location of Syntagma.

Great to see, happens on the hour every hour. Guards uniforms are worth a look, quite unusual!! Plus the gardens beside it are beautiful with different animals to be spotted.

I've visited Syntagma Square many times when in Athens, and its a very pleasant and relaxing square with nice cafes around. I've also got the airport bus to and from here too. Also very it has views of the Greek Parliament building also.

it is too bad the citizens of Greece are protesting by marring such beautiful buildings and monuments. It didn't matter if the wall was 2000 or 2 years old. Graffiti everywhere. totally ruined sites such as this square
