this marvelous amphitheater is on the way up to the Acropolis from the Plaka area. Tehre are actually two Amphiteaters on the way up and this one has the amazing arches. The site of many famous outdoor concerts over the years. It is a great spectacle.

This is one of several wonderful Roman, yes Roman, theatres around Europe that have been restored and house current day productions. Entry to the Odeion appears to be typically restricted to performance evenings, but it can be viewed from several vantage points while climbing up the Acropolis. Getting tickets for an evening performance takes a bit of perseverance, but is... More

Simply amazing! The best old time theatre in the world! The only sad thing is that you cannot get inside. The majesty of this place cannot be described, you have to visit if you wanna understand! One of the most interesting constructions in the amazing Acropolis of Athens.

on the day we were at the site, there was no entry possible. Not many staff around, so could not understand in English whether there was entry possible at other times. However the area was very clean and most of the interesting structure was intact

It's a necessary "evil": getting into Acropolis you will see several familiar from the early childhood places. This one is not available for visits on every day, but you will see it close enough to imagine how impressive shows and concert used to be in Athens and why we respect Greek culture that much.

I stood for awhile taking this majestic place in, I just couldn’t believe how long this place has stood the test of time. And it was still as beautiful if not more than the day it was built I`m certain.

If you are a visitor and want to experience something that not a lot of tourists do experience, try to combine your stay with the dates a ballet performance is given at this ancient theater...it's breathtaking. In summer, lots of ballet companies, such as then BOlsoi, the MArinski, the NEw YOrk come here to perform. A must see experience.

It is worh the visit, this acient theater with its marbles is quite a sight. Now imagine enjoying a concert there with Gilberto Gil, one of the Brazilian greats...it was a night to remember.
