We did the half-day tour with Chat Tours and it was a good and informative experience. Our guide was clearly very knowledgeable and we enjoyed the combination of the walking around the Acropolis followed by the bus tour of some of the main city sights. We added the option to tour the museum with our guide which we felt was... More

Had a 2 days Delphi Meteora tour, the beginning of the tour was alright, nothing really special. Delphi tour was okay and the tour deteriorated after leaving Delphi because the tour guide who took over was irritable most of the time, and very authoritarian. Unfriendly was probably the best way to describe her, including quarreling with the nunnery nuns while... More

Delphi , Metoera ,Corinth Canal , Olympia and the other areas visited were all worth the effort ,some had a lot of steps and walking but... More

The four-day Chat Tour is the best way to maximize time and and see important sites (Corinth Canal, Mycenae, Epidaurus, Nafplio, Olympia, Delphi, Thermopylae and Meteora). Our guide, Joy, is very knowledgeable and conveys important, relevant information in a very accessible manner. She includes lots of Greek myths in her explanations, which was really a good way to help our... More

Our tour, booked through Viator, with Chat tours was well worth the very reasonable charge. Our guide was completely knowledgeable, professional, and extremely funny! We did the half-day tour of Athens and the bus trip to Sounion. Although a full-day, the bus trip was a great time to relax, take in some scenery, and see the impressive Temple of Poseidon... More

I took the day tour to Mycenae. The guide was a bit gruff when I got on the bus as I was late, however I was collected from my hotel by the tour company and driven to a central location where everyone was distributed to their various tours. Once I was at the meeting point I realised it was only... More

Great tour and guide! Totally worth the expense. I didn't realize how beautiful Greece is outside of the Athens until we went on the tour. All those mountain, valley, and ports. It is gorgeous! Tour is extremely well organized with door-to-door pick up and drop off pre and post-tour. Guide was just awesome! He layer information slowly and gave us... More

The Amalia hotels we stayed at while on our tour were wonderful. Our tour guide was a delight and wealth of information. She had great passion for the insights she shared with us regarding the sights and countryside. The Judas trees were beautifully in bloom at OLYMPIA amongst the ruins. Great places to eat along the way and felt a... More

My husband and I usually hate big group tours. But this one is an exemption. Our travel agent has booked this tour for us as part of the package we availed. We were at least 20 in our bus (Btw buses are another thing we don't like). We were both surprised that in the end we actually enjoyed the tour.... More

Our tour guide was excellent, but the rest of the trip was not. We saw a few landmarks on the bus tour portion (a quick photo op at the base of the Parthenon, a quick drop in on the original Olympic stadium, and a drive by of the Gardens and Parliament). However, the main purpose behind the tour seems to... More

Staying in Syntagma

Neighborhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
