We took the 3 day Classical tour to see the sites outside Athens -- Mycenae, Epidavros, Olympia, and Delphi. Our tour guide, Joy, illuminated the trip with stories and insights into the philosophy and soul of Greece. So glad we did this tour rather than attempting to drive ourselves.

Great, great tour! Our guide (Joy) was very knowledgable and told lots of great stories. She was great with our son, and explained history for all of us, The schedule was packed with great things - no wasted time. We saw all kinds of things I'd read about years ago. The Amalia hotels were lovely. When a snowstorm blew in,... More

We used Chat Tours for both of our day trips to Cape Sounion and Delphi. On both trips, the guides were extremely knowledgeable and articulate. The transportation was also very comfortable. For the Delphi trip, we stopped for lunch and in a tourist-y little ski town, and it was really a lot easier with everything being pre-arranged. Both trips were... More

I liked both tours. I found Delphi to be an extraordinary place, with the ruins of this important sight. Not only beautiful, but meaningful. The lunch (included on my tour) at the hotel was just Ok - I would recommend eating on your own in town and spending some time there. Our guide was Joy. She was knowledgeable and fun.... More

I have never traveled with a tour group before even though I have traveled internationally with some regularity for business and pleasure, so on a whim and per encouragement from a friend I decided to do a tour as I was traveling alone. My aim was to focus on archeological sites and history and to check off a bucket-list trip.... More

We took two tours and both were conducted well. They organize everything from hotel pick up to drop off. The trips are reliable and maintain a tight time schedule. Coverage is good and if the guide has good English spoken skills, you will learn more on Greek history.

This was a very interesting tour. It was comfortable and well suited to the time we had available. The meal was excellent. In the morning a local event made it difficult for the bus to collect us from our hotel. Pedros came to collect us in a private taxi. His associate met us at a cafe to collect payment because... This 4 day tour starts in Athens and covers the highlights of the Corinth Canal, Napflia, Mycenea, Olympia, Epidureaus, Delphi and the fascinating monasteries of Meteorea. Our guide was quite impressive and made the tour a real learning experience. We were fortunate to have only 12 in our group for most of the tour and the mini-tour bus was excellent.... More

Staying in Syntagma

Neighborhood Profile
Syntagma
Perhaps the best place to get your bearings is Syntagma Square, crowned by the imposing Parliament building on its upper side and surrounded by other large structures, such as the exclusive Hotel Grande Bretagne. The grand avenues that lead towards Omonia are also full of massive Neoclassical edifices like the Numismatic Museum and those around smaller Platia Kolokotroni. Here you will find lots of travel agents, bookshops and fashion shops, especially on Ermou Street. Just south of Syntagma Square, you can take a breather in the lush National Gardens, which extend into the grounds of the Zappeio palace and beyond to the ancient Temple of Olympian Zeus.
