Took river cruise the length of the Douro to the Spanish border. Totally beautiful landscape. The vineyards are terraced in pure rock from water level all the way up mountains either side of the river, apparently all done with manual labor...unforgettable. This might be the largest DOC for wine in the northern hemisphere.

We only took the 50 minute boat trip which was part of the red bus tour, but it gave us a feeling and a view of the city not experienced from land.

Not only was the boat ride lovely but we got to see the coastline where on one side was the city and the other lined with views of the town where the vineyards were. As we waited for the scheduled boat tour, there were venders along the river side and we... More

What a beautiful picturesque river. One of the best out there. Could stand to have more river front cafes. Romantic and not to be missed.
