To enjoy the scenic sun, beach and sand, to old city of Oporto, the best way is to stroll down from Molhe on the Rocks to Rio Douro, then along Rio Douro, to the old city.

Nice to see cruise and day or hourly trips along the river - peaceful. Quite a busy road on the walk into Porto but a good safe pavement.

We went on an all day tour on the River Douro. The scenery was beautiful, though it was a cool and rainy day. The boat was packed, however, and the food almost inedible. "Breakfast' was a roll and coffee. The bread not eaten was gathered up and handed out again at lunch. And then the food went downhill from there.... More

Cruising the river Douro is a must do when visiting Porto. We did a day long Barca Douro cruise to Regua with a train back and it was fantastic. The views are breathtaking and going through the locks is an experience like none other.

Great places to eat/drink on either side of the river and watch the passing parade. Many of the local river cruises cater for weddings and functions and you can watch everyone dancing and singing as they cruise away. Often live music set up along the bank, plenty of outdoor seating everywhere

The Douro valley is amazing! Hundreds of Thousands of acres of terraced vineyards along a lovely river. It is awesome -- and the wine is really good! This is the oldest wine making region in the world and is a delight to explore by car and to see by river boat with a day trip.

We were on a budget but took a deep breath and booked a day trip up the Douro river. We booked it through the tourist office and it was 70 euros per person for the day, which sounds a lot but which turned out to be good value. Starting from Gaia we had a nice breakfast. The further up the... More

The river is the heart of Porto. Both sides easily accessible. Take a walk along the South side for as far as you can go, it's worth it to see the men fishing and a little boat building. A river trip on one of the 'Port' boats is a must.

You'll probably do the 5-bridges tour which last about 40 mins and then eat in one of the many reasonably-priced restaurants nearby.
