The Douro River makes for a pleasant walk through the city of Porto, especially with the number of wineries available for visitors to stop off at along the way to refresh flagging spirits with some spirits of the alcoholic variety. We visited the Sandeman Port Wine Cellar, mainly because the company's Zorro-like mascot appealed to us, but the tour and... More

Porto is a beautiful city especially around the river Douro. It is a very serene and lovely walk and make sure you walk across the Dom Louis bridge where you will get breathtaking views. You will see all the port boats and see all the port sheds plus the views of the city. The café along the river is good... More

It's the best place in Porto, if the weather is good, you shall take a walk on the bridge, if the weather is bad, you at least shall go to have a seafood meal along the river side while enjoying the view.

The boat ride takes around 40 mins or so and covers fair bit of coast line. It takes all the way to the point where the river meets ocean and back it covers few bridges including Luis. Gives very good photo opportunity to capture various establishment along the river.

I walked to Foz do Douro from Ribeira and back. It was not the best decision. It is a distance long enough to be challenging, but not long enough to be an achievement. Regardless, walking is a good opportunity to take in the views that the river offers and there are quite a few small restaurants along the way (not... More

The vineyards terraced into the mountains are phenomenal. Lush green countryside and great 360 views.

Rio Douro is very beautiful and brings the feeling of Invicta city of Portugal. It is the first thing to do when you go to Oporto.

you can take a tour boat here. You can cross the Dom Luis bridge and be on the other side where the wine lodges are.

The Douro river valley is very scenic, especially if you take one of the tours. The Living Tours minivan tour offers spectacular views from the tops of the hills but I guess the train to Pinhao at river level would also be pretty good.
