Clérigos Tower is the foremost undisputed landmark of Porto and a reference in the city's history. Clérigos Tower opened its doors in 1763, becoming the highest bell tower of Portugal, with over 75 metres. In 1753 the Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni was invited to design and build this magnificent Heritage, considered National Monument since 1910. The famous church was built in the eighteenth century, between 1732 and 1749 and this was the most emblematic work of the architect Nicolau Nasoni. Is one of the most beautiful temples of baroque feature, and a reference in the history of Porto. The Exhibitions allow to discover the history of the Brotherhood of Clérigos, admire pieces from the eighteenth to the nineteenth century, in painting, furniture, jewellery and vestment collections. Christus collection, on the 3 floor, is a trip through time and space where art and religion complement each other.

I'm not a sightseeing type but the Clerigos is a must-see in Porto so I went. It was pouring rain and there was nobody in the tower, just some bored looking employees. My ticket didnt scan because my clothes made it a bit wet, so I had to wait for an employee or climb over every gate. I wanted to... More

I'll make it short. If you are looking for a historical scenery and a possibility to take a peek of polished church interiors - worth it. Allthough you can visit villa de Gaya monastery for a better look of douro river and Ribeira region with a decent sight of Porto old town for no charge in case you are on... More

Excellent place, great staff, very well organized, and plenty to to see (in addition the the tower climbing) with artifacts and many rooms to explore, church visit, architecture and noble materials to enjoy. Note: If you are lucky you can listen to a live performance of the organist in the Church.

The experience on the tower was great and I think this should be a must-visit for everyone but I would highly recommend the manager of this tower to control the number of people walking up the tower at the same time and those with big bags or backpacks should really be asked to leave them downstairs at a locker -... Despite the weather being foul- it was worth braving the wind & the rain to see the great views at the top. €3 the entry seemed a fair price for the tower & the church.

Well worth the 200 step climb to the top of the tower for the memorable photos that can be taken on a clear day. Informative areas at various stages on the way up, chance for a breather!

Going early in the morning when the tower is just open so you can enjoy yourself at the top of the tower. Astonishing view.
