Taylor’s, accepted by most wine authorities to be the greatest of all port shippers, invites you to a pleasant and informative tour of its famous lodges at Vila Nova de Gaia. During the tour the visitor will be given the opportunity to learn about the fascinating history of Port wine, as well as that of the House of Taylor Fladgate making it one of the oldest Port companies.

Much higher up the hills (though not as far back as Dow's, which I regret not visiting), Taylor has nice gardens and a large balcony which looks out onto the river and Porto, great place to sit on a sunny afternoon and sample some port. If you're looking for a good guide and information about port though this isn't really... More

Good value but boring guide - he did not seem like he wanted to do his job and did not want to share much knowledge. We've done other tours in Portugal where the guides really explained a lot but this tour was disappointed. In the end, I still don't know how they make port! Wish we went for another one... More

A lovely setting for a port tour. The gardens are restful with roaming peacocks. The deck are has lovely views over the Douro and both provide a wonderful setting to enjoy a glass of port. The tour is only 5 euros. Its a relatively short tour with a tasting at the end of three ports if you don't try a... More

We did this after CALEM and it was very similar although it didn't have such a well thought through visitor experience. In both places the basic Port tasting was quite minimal, explaining just the essential differences, so it might be worth trading up to the more in-depth tasting opportunities if you are very keen to learn. The guide was good... More

Book the lunch beforehand. We arrived on wet February and it was full! Looked good though. Good value euro 5 for tour which is really a talk rather than a tour as such with 3 tasters at the end.

As mentioned your is great value and just enough information. Tours run at different times in different languages but it is a lovely spot it sit and wait in their garden or terrace restaurant we had lunch on the terrace after the tour with exceptional service and the best view. Everything on this side of the river is a walk... More

As others have said before us, the tour is excellent value - not necessarily because of the tour itself, but the tasting - both what is included in the 5 euro price, and all the other options (we tasted a fantastic 20 year old vintage for 12 euros - this we couldn't have afforded by the bottle). We had to... More

A beautiful site! The tour started with an informative video and we enjoyed our first glass of Port while we watched it. On the tour itself we learned a lot about the Port making process and the guide was able to answer all of the questions she was asked even when not directly about Port. At the end of the... More

Great value at 5 euro including 3tastings and tour of the cellars. We came away knowing so much about port generally and the Taylor's brand specifically. The tour starts off with a short but informative film about The Douro vineyards and the port making process. Then the tour about 40 minutes through their cellars with the different barrels followed by... More

Coming back to Porto after a few years I went to a few more port houses - and of course came back to Taylors - I am still strongly convinced this is the best one. Sitting on the deck and drinking Port here is one of my favorite things to do on a nice day - amazing views, roaming peacocks,... More
