Always a pleasure to go there!

Definitely worth spending a couple of hours getting to know as there are so many small hidden historic details. The people are always very nice too!

I enjoyed the food, the wine was great too, and the location is one of the best in Europe considering some of the buildings are older than the America's

Well, the City Center is great but shopping is out of question. So, just see the place, get a coffee (always ask for an espresso) or a beer (be carefull with portuguese beers) and than go shopping to the mall

Guimarães has a lovely historic distric. You can spend 30 minutes or 3 hours walking around and you will always be able to find something new, beautiful and full of history. Guimarães is definitely a great place to go if you're planning to visit Portugal.

Guimaraes town centre is reminiscent of the typical Portuguese town squares, littered with cafes and restaurants, towered by a Cathedral nearby. We had a lovely lunch in a restaurant overlooking Oliveira square and took a stroll along the alleyways with their quaint little shops. despite it being July, it was relatively quiet, but not too deserted. would recommend if visiting... Where Portugal was born. Very nice city with a gorgeous city centre. Juts stroll by numerous buildings and try to find even two same. This astonished me in whole Portugal. Such an architectonic discord in small details (windows, frames, doors, railings etc.) at every house yet such a wonderful concord in the whole-view.

Guimarães is a charming town. The palace and castle are worth a visit. We made it a day trip from Porto going to Braga first by train; Guimarães by bus and returning to Porto by train.

Being a small portuguese town it's incredible the amount of great monuments and details you can visit in the city center. There are lots of churches and amazing parks to explore. Love the place. A must see when visiting Portugal

In a relatively small stretch of land one can indulge ina very productive sort of visit. This does not mean it is less interesting than any historical site you know. The concentration of good restaurants, historical attractions in the city which claims the birth of the nation is noticeable. Be prepared to learn fast
