This is one of the prettiest places in North Portugal. I go there whether it's raining or shining. It's absolutely beautiful and stunning. What I love the most is being in the water completely surrounded by the mountains. An indescribable feeling.

Thank you very much all the Tour promoted by Oporto Adventure Tours. The national park is very beautiful, with a lot of history and traditions. If you wanna go in the good conditions and relaxed try it! :)

Leaving from Braga, go to the Spanish border through Geres, there is a restaurant and bar, WCs also. You can go swimming by walking back a KM or so to a rocky creek, lot of locals there. But the drive between Geres and Campo de Geres is really spectacular. The road starts very indescriptly at a circle BEFORE you get... More

We drove from Braga to Geres which already offered us beautiful views on the forest and lake. Later we entered 'Ponte da Barca' in our gps and started - what we thought to be - a drive of 40minutes. This turned out to be over 2hours, but was one of the best experiences we had during our stay in Portugal!... More

Lots of people, lots of traffic, no so much parking space, thin road, 1.50 euro to enter in the park. The nature is beautiful, the humans are the issue, as everywhere.

Two things you don't want to miss: Pedra Bela (fantastic view) and the Waterfalls (kinda hard to get there but you won't regret). You need to be careful while trying to climb the rocks to reach some places, it's kinda dangerous, you can fall and you have no cellphone connection in higher spots. You have a lot of places to... Just let yourself (body and mind) completely free when you take long and revitaising walks through this huge park! It'a protected area where you may find unique plants and animals combined in this peacful and beatuful ambiance. Just try to explore it in all it's natural sites.

On our 4 week tour of Northerm Portugal, planning based upon Lonely Planet & TripAdvisor, we entered via Pestana Pousada Viana Do Castelo (3 nights) & Beliao Bar, Ponte da Braca (lunch) - both fab, see separate reviews - we had pre-booked 4 nights Hotel da Peneda - what a good choice (see separate review) - Peneda is the ideal...
