Ok it's not cheap,30 euros for a couple, but no one forces you to pay. No it's not Disneyland, and thank the Lord for that. It's good old fashioned fun, which provides work for the locals and if you don't want to ride, then have some fun watching people who do.yes the photo at the end costs 10 euros. If... More

A nice experience going down the monte hill like people used to do in old times. Spectacular view of the downhill street and exotic ambiance. Not to miss!

As others have said, a bit pricey at €30 for a couple but, like the gondolas in Venice, fun and a 'must do' while you are in Madeira. One thing though, at the end of the ride you have a choice of taxi, bus or walk back into town. We chose to walk as it was downhill all the way,... More

From near the top of the cable car the toboggan run is 2 km of laughing screaming fun. This definitely puts the fun in Funchal. If you are fit ( or daft like us) you can walk from where it ends straight down the very steep road to the town.. Next time we'd take a taxi!

What a super fun thing to do on holiday & very unusual & unique. We have done this before but was the first time with our little boy who loved every minuite as we did too. It is worth the money because it is a long journey down the hill & would do this again for definate.

Take the cable car up to the starting point. The Sled Ride is not all the way Down; but you can get a Taxi where the sled stops.

Yes I was leery at first, but watching people of all ages, shapes and sizes going down, decided I had nothing to lose. Initial few feet took my breath away but it slowed a bit around the first curve and then the fun began. The expert drivers playfully steer you toward the curb, gutter or cars, but never actually put you... Not quite sure what to expect, but on balance worth doing. Strange mixture of sliding, seemingly out of control & coming to a halt, to enable the tobogganiers to re-wax the underside rails. Be aware that the end of the ride is a steep 15min walk from town centre (plenty of taxis on hand)

the toboggan ride cost 30 euros for the two of us and only goes about 2kms but doesn't feel like that, you can either get a taxi the rest of the way, down or walk, but that's about 3!/2 mile,so wear sensible shoes
