The Up Mountain Madeira tours started in the beginning of 2012 , taking our visitors as friends that want to see and try Madeira, far away from the tourist crowds and boring, soulless tours and convoys. Our tours are always done by a certified guide, in an open classic UMM jeep, all done in a very calm safe and relaxed way. we have our shared jeep regular tours, with max 7 persons and also can tailor out your tour, for you and your party, focusing what you love the most, so if you think you got what it's needed, and brave enough to leave your cosy sofa, to really live Madeira, take a ride with us. discover the real traditional places, markets and people. Madeira is famous for its exuberant nature and its fantastic climate, but also for its people hospitality..and we know that Madeira has so much to offer and best is hiking trails, paths and levadas by foot or by jeep.No Crowds, No Rush, small groups, great adventures! we are a certified and bounded tourism animation company by the Portuguese government under license 118/M/2011 and all our activities are covered and insured « less

Nicolau took us on a gentle 2 hour levada walk where we learnt so much about the fauna and flora and history of the island. His enthusiasm and passion is infectious. From collecting out own agapanthus to stopping to buy locally made jams and sweets, we loved it. Would definitely return and do a more challenging walk.

Three trips in two visits and looking forward to another day out with these guys on our next visit in November. Everytime we are shown hidden gems that we would never have found on our own and the local knowledge is second to none. They also know where all of best best Poncha is on the island.

We chose to do a the West Tour based upon reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. We would highly recommend that you do the Tour with Miguel. His open top jeep meant that we could stand up whilst moving, taking in the spectacular views over the Island. Miguel was passionate, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable, just what you want... More

Last week we (with kids aged 12 and 9) did the West Tour with Miguel and it was the highlight of our holiday! Miguel encouraged us to stand up in the jeep, even while going up steep winding roads and it was an absolutely amazing experience. He was a great guide and took us to see some stunning views in... We were a party of 14 raging in ages from 5 to 84 and we all had the most fantastic day out with Nic and Miguel. We can certainly agree with all of the comments already posted. Booking the day was easy via email and Nic was able to answer any questions that I had. We enjoyed the full day... More

Absolutely loved our tour of western and northern Madeira with Miguel. He told us that they don't advertise the company on their jeeps as the other companies are jealous, you can see why! Miguel took us uphill and through laurel forests, then over the top of the plateau. We would stop every now and then so that Miguel could show... More

We had a fantastic day with Miguel in Madeira. I highly recommend this trip on the first or second day of your vacation. It's the best way to see so much of the island, learn about the amazing history, the local culture, best places to eat, where to get authentic Poncha, and so much more. Miguel is a fun, energetic... I got back from Madeira yesterday and feel obliged to share my review as I used reviews from TripAdvisor in booking this trip. Do it! You wont regret it. All the previous reviews sum up this experience spot on. You can find alternative tours on offer when in madiera that are a little cheaper than this one, but this is... More
