Nestling below just 10 minutes away is Funchal, the island’s capital. Designed by renowned golf architect Cabell B. Robinson, this picturesque layout with year-round appeal takes full advantage of Madeira’s hilly terrain, with abrupt ridges and deep valleys providing a compelling challenge for even the most seasoned golfer.Teeing off here is to walk through a verdant and tranquil 200-year-old country estate, and an abundance of fragrant, exotic flora lends the course a unique and singular quality. « less

Palheiro is a nice course but the lack of sand in the bunkers and the condition of the course is generally poor. The problem is that there are only two courses on Madeira, so they can change what they want - it is not worth the 110 euro price tag. On a positive the staff are friendly and always willing... More

Dear guest, Thank you very much for your feedback regarding Palheiro Golf. Unfortunately you visited us during our bunker maintenance (changing the sand in all the bunkers). This work is now nearly complete. We would be delighted to welcome you back as our guest on your next visit to Madeira. More

This is not because you enjoyed the first round, it is because you will be so annoyed that all the different elevations caused you to mis club so often. Below average greens More

Wonderful golf course, extremely challening, but well worth the effort. Staff very helpful and the view from the club house for a after game drink or meal is a spectular view of funchal bay. Worth the visit for the setting even if you don't play golf. More

We would like to thank Palheiro Golf for the lovely time we spent in Madeira. We were impressed by the friendliness and warmth of the staff from go to whoa. Well done, Palheiro Golf staffers! We chose carnival week, which was wonderfully entertaining, and booked a week-long golf package and can tell anyone that’s considering Madeira that the views from... More

I loved Palheiro Golf, I have been more than once, during this trip I visited the Palheiro Gardens, and it truly was stunning! The profusion of flowers, and trees...even in January was amazing, the air smelt so wonderfully clean! The view over the city of Funchal from the Club House was gorgeous, such a lovely place to have a cup... More

Too many people playing who were taking too long which made the going very slow. An interesting course not as easy as may appear! More

You really need to hire a buggy for this hilly course- which we did - and there's still a fair bit of walking involved. Once I'd resigned myself to miss out two of the steepest holes it was much more enjoyable. More

Spring had only just come so there were not too many flowers, but you could imagine the gardens in even a months time and they would have been spectacular. Beautifully kept and well worth going to. The tea room was poor in comparison. If you are walking the levadas to get to these gardens, stop for a break at the... More

Wonderful views but tough course. Greens like concrete. Third game and learning you cannot fire balls into green. Restaurant is very good and service excellent. More

We have had a very dry winter and the greens are much harder than normal. We hope this did not detract from your overall enjoyment and that you enjoyed the linkslike challenge! We are delighted you enjoyed our restaurant and service. Thanks for the valued feedback. More

We didn't have the gear for 18 holes, but the academy was just enough to give a feel for the bigger course. Great help from the reception staff who relaxed the dress code and provided two great sets of clubs-including a left handed set-in two minutes. The six holes course is not as easy as it looks ,with the last... More
