Usually use the city sighting tours (red bus), but the locals are pushing the 'in-house' yellow tours so we opted for this. For two days from time you first step on the bus, you can get around Funchal on the yellow bus (every 20 minutes) or the blue bus to the fishing village of Camara de lobos (every 60 minutes).... Not many interesting points to get off and explore, but we find taking a bus tour gives us ideas where to spend time

The Yellow Bus Tours were excellent - both the yellow line and the blue line as not only was there a commentary, it was possible to hop on and off the bus for two whole days. We went on the Blue Line to a lovely village in the west of Funchal and had a leisurely hour and a half with... More

I have checked out the sightseeing tour buses I am pleased to inform that they are wheelchair friendly although it's on the low deck but perfectly acceptable for getting around, not to expensive. Taxis range from cars to mini buses for larger parties and I have not found them to expensive.

To see the sights and get your bearings we would most definitely recommend the 'Yellow Bus Tours' there is an option of the rival red bus at the same price, but with the yellow tours you get the added bonus of a 48 hour ticket (instead of the red bus' 24hrs) and you have another bus 'Blue Bus Tour' included!... This bus costs 12 Euros for 2 days and is excellent value for money. There are 2 routes, 1 around the city and 1 out to Capo de Largos. You can get on and off the bus whenever and wherever you want. Its a great way to see the city!

Decent tour on one of three routes available. Good quality audio on the free headphones too. Worth doing to get your bearings and to see an eagle eyed view of a pretty city. Cheap at 12 Euros for a 48 hour pass too.
