There are 2 routes to choose from, the blue or yellow option. We did both over 2 days for 15 Euros pp. Found it a good way to see round Funchal and get our bearings on arrival here. There were some short waits at a couple of stops but plenty to see whilst waiting. Some of the upper decks had... More

We booked this at the last minute and although pleasantly greeted we might just as well have hopped onto the local bus. Very scant information given from pre written notes. At one stage there were only 4 of us on the bus but there was no personal interaction. In fact for the majority of the tour the 'guide' kept up... More

There were two young women selling tickets for the CitySightseeing (red bus) and the Yellow Bus HOHO bus tours right at the port when our cruise ship arrived. Instead of the normal 12 € for 48 hours, it was 15 € per person for the day. Hmm. The red bus was only charging 12 € but the Yellow Bus saleswoman... More

Reasonably priced for 48hr ticket (better than doing it by calendar day) but would echo some others' experiences..... long waits at some points (exacerbated by much chatter between drivers and salesgirls!), too much routing through hotel areas and not enough in old town roads and rarely did the commentary match your position. Also, beware them changing where they actually pick... More

We visited Funchal in early February for four days and wanted to see as much of the area as we could. The Yellow Bus was perfect as we bought a two day ticket which meant we could jump off and on anywhere along the route and not worry about having to get off. The bus stop was right outside our... we used this to see along the front of Funchal and to go Cabo Girao. after some wait as we had just missed a bus (they ran every 35 minutes) we caught the blue line to Camara de Lobos. We then changed to a smaller bus for the trip up to Cabo Girao. Once dropped at the top we walked... More

We decided to use the yellow bus tour as away of getting round Funchal. We got on at the first stop and decided to stay on it so we could see all of the town. The time was around an hour and 40 minutes as the bus stopped and waited at a few stops. I don't know if I would... More

Found the yellow hop on hop off bus a waste of money, was told buses came every 20 min at ticket office, driver said every 30 but for most of our 48 hour pass we waited much longer than that. One part of the journey which should have been about 20 min took over an hour because we sat at... More

Very interesting tour on a big bus, visited the caves ( lava tubes) and after the tour, there were a number of interesting presentations relating to the geological history of the islands. Highly recommended trip.

Had the 48 hour ticket for 15 euros. Spent much of the time waiting at stops for buses or sitting at stops on the buses while the drivers waited for changeovers. . Told they were every 20 minutes but twice we waited nearly an hour. Red buses cheaper and appear much more reliable. The commentary pretty useless. Tip use the... More
