Loved all the plants which were from all over the world and labelled to tell you where they are from. The Garden was very pretty and peaceful but be aware there are lots of hill and steps.

The gardens were beautiful, the flowers and trees all had labels attached to them advising you off their name and country of origin.

I hate gardens, but my wife loves them so we went to this one. All very nicely laid out and with many colours (or colors if you are a Yank). but it was still just a garden to me.

We have visited this garden a few times. The first time in 2010 after dreadful storms damaged many of the trees, plants and sculptures. As the years go by it is great to see the complete recovery of the vegetation and the many additions to this lovely garden. A 'fun' tip is to walk to the extreme right of the... More

The tropical gardens at the top of the cable car ride is a little over rated for what it actually is. Yes there is a lovely collection of plants, flowers and trees including a bizarre array of cactus plants. I personally did not like the wild bird sanctuary I felt like the bird cages were on the small side. They... More

We took the cable car up to this beautiful garden and oh my was it worth it. The garden is absolutely gorgeous, very oriental. We visited when it was fairly drizzly and it was still lovely, try and keep this for a nice day of possible though.

There is so much more to see here than you could ever imagine. The great Manor House, picturesque lake and gorgeous waterfall, birds, statues, the World's Tallest Vase, the Precious Stones Museum, the African Art Museum, Madeira Wine tasting, the wonderful tile murals depicting the Kings and Queens of Portugal across the ages and that's without turning your attention to...
