Because of my profision I'm a big fun of of nature, flowers and plants... but this trip was a total disaster... garden full of hydrangeas... and only hydrangeas... in my opinion could not be called tropical. Orquids garden existed only on a free map... didn't fulfilled my expectation at all!

When we bought tickets for the cable car up to Monte we decided to buy a combined ticket with the Tropical Gardens as we figured we should visit at least one garden whilst in Madeira, being famed for its flora. So very glad we did! I'm not a particularly keen gardener but it was fantastic walking around these lovely gardens... More

I think we went in between flowering seasons so not much to see. Small café was clean and inviting. Most of it was in the shade so you might want to take a cardigan

It was a fantastic well thought out garden, brightly coloured flowers, lakes, waterfalls, fish, ducks, swans, trees, nice places to sit in shade, plenty of toilets.

As one of the optional extras to the cable car ticket, a visit to these gardens were well worth the visit. Colorful plants abound - a lot of walking required but so satisfying to get around the whole garden - allow yourself several hours to fully enjoy the experience.

This is lovely to do after the cable car trip. Stunning gardens and water features. Lot of walking involved and it is very hilly. Once you have walked down, there is a buggy you can take back up to the entrance for the less able. Allow at least 3 hours to go round and you get a free glass of... More

This is a lovely spot to spend an afternoon wandering around beautiful gardens. There is plenty to see and also a cafe serving complimentary Madeira wine.

Amusingly billed as one of the top 13 gardens in the world (Conde Nast), this little haven of calm is a beautiful and tranquil way of spending half a day. July isn't the best time for flowers (spring, autumn and winter are said to be the best time to visit Madeira for flowers), but the gardens are beautiful and are... More
