Nice Central Gardens and nice to spend a while wandering around the trees, shrubs, plants etc. Nice to see a couple of swans on the pond. At certain times they also have free music and charity stalls

In a place like this you'll find that Madeira is an island of eternal spring! The advantage of this garden is that you can see it for free.

This is a lovely well looked after and clean park with plenty of seating and has panoramic views over Funchal harbour. Either eat in the small café situated here or bring a picnic, lovely flowers and small lake with fountains.

We went in September but we could imagine how hot Funchal would get, so this little garden must be a joy for shade at the height of the season.

Unfortunately although this was a lovely garden it was undergoing some changes probably as it was the end of their busy summer season. Very close to the taxi rank and a nice cool place to sit in the heart of the busy centre.

Although we enjoyed the gardens (in fact better overall than the Botanical Gardens) it was clear from the planting that they would look even better earlier in the year. Six of us organised the trip from our hotel by taxi; the advantage of this was that there is a long walk from the ticket office to the gardens themselves which... More

We loved stopping off here at every opportunity, to rest in the shade on the numerous benches and watch the little lizards on the walls. Paths and walkways were always swept and litter free. We had a drink in the cafe which was reasonably priced.

In the town centre this is a lovely small public garden cannot be missed. On one day a week a craft market is held here.
