Fantastic gardens

Really interesting day trip - we went by cable car - huge grounds with lots of unusual "follys" and spectacular plants and flowers

We always visit when in Madeira. At Christmas there are attractions for the children to explore and have a family photo, enchanting. These are free too. During the festive season there are free concerts and you can buy food and drink, also the obligatory red had with flashing light. At any time of the year we take a seat and... More

Cool green oasis on your walk into Funchal. Lots of stalls if you're interested in browsing and plenty of seating if you just want to take a breather. There are also public toilets there.

We stopped here for a coffee/beer on our first afternoon in Funchal and loved the tranquility. Then we had a look around the Scots Kirk at the west end of the garden.

This was one of the many places I visited during my trip to Funchal. I wandered for hours and could've easily stayed there all day. It was an incredible day and I would recommend it fully.

This is a small but very pretty garden in the centre of Funchal. A tranquil place to relax for both locals and visitors. A small pond with a fountain add to the attraction.

Located in the centre opposite the Ritz. This park is compact but provides plenty of places to sit and welcome shade. Well used by locals and a good atmosphere enhanced by the music from the Ritz opposite.

These well maintained gardens are an oasis in the city centre. The only downside is the intrusive noise from the music being played at the outdoor cafes on the opposite side of Avenida Arriaga

This garden can be accessed opposite the Theatre. It is a quiet peaceful area to have a drink and let time pass you bye.

Small but perfectly formed. A beautiful little haven of colourful trees and flowers, complete with miniature lake. It's situated on Avenida Ariega, the most picturesque avenue in town. Walking in either direction down the broad, tree lined avenue is delightful. The cathedral is nearby,as is the impressive São Laurenco fortress, along with various cafes and restaurants. The seafront is just one block down. Blandy's... More
