Oh another church my friend said. Yes but it's an extremely old one and very lovely inside. Take some time and see it on the inside. It's very beautiful and historic. Very much worth seeing even if you are not religious.

Situated in the centre of Funchal, such a beautiful Cathedral and well worth the visit, we went at the right time not as many people around so it was ideal.

The Se is quite a severe building externally with white walls offet with brown stonework. Internally it is quite rich although somewhat dark. Seems to be closed majority of the day (that may be due to my visit being in winter)

An impressive building in the centre of Funchal, again worth a visit, not always open, so check on the day you visit, otherwise you can only admire the building itself.

An unspoilt church that is true to is nature and worth the effort to view. The artefacts are preserved but it's clearly a working church which is a bonus.

Not an especially interesting cathedral. Ok for a quick look inside if passing, but the opening times are quite limited. The interior is very dark and really there's nothing particularly memorable to see.

It was a cathedral. I like cathedrals and it wasn't the biggest or most impressive but it was good. It was cool on a hot day!

The key to getting in to see the Se Cathedral in Funchal is to get there early, either before, during or after mass. The church is in the center of town, right in the midst of everything. The interior is dark, but quite lovely. Well worth a peek.

Funchal Cathedral dates back to the early days of the island as a Portuguese colony and is well worth a look if you find it open. The best time to visit seems to be 9-11 in the morning and after 4pm though service times may vary this. At other times it is often closed. Inside it is quite atmospheric and... More
