Our first visit to Madeira and if we come again we wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else. Stunning location. Such helpful and friendly people. The food was excellent too - I suppose the only thing was that dinner was very early but a small price to pay to stay in this little part of paradise. The passionfruit pudding is... More

What an amazing day we had at Faja Dos Padres. By chance I found the. On the internet and emailed from S Africa to make a reservation. I dealt with Catarina and she was so helpful answering all my questions. They offer a boat service, collecting us from a pier about 10 minutes from our hotel. Because there were other... More

We wanted to add to what has already been written by other reviewers with directions to get here on public transport. We found them quite hard to get! Take a number 4 Rodoeste bus from Funchal to Ponta Do Sol. the bus stop in Funchal is opposite the marina on the shore front, right by the Rodoeste information kiosk. It... More

I just found this pace by chance on an internet search and I knew automatically that I had to stay on this place. NO REGRETS at all! The place is like a small paradise on earth. The elevator with the stunning views over the Ocean and the "Fajã" brings you to a little Eden! The stuff is really really nice,... More

Unbelievable views while going down by the elevator. This place is really disconnected from the world. We enjoyed a lot sitting near the ocean and listening to it's sounds. Restaurant on the beach was nice. We had very delicious fish and average poncha (comparing to some really good Poncha places). It was so special to have our lunch so near... More

Me and husband went there for our anniversary. We stayed there 3 nights and it was amazing... They are very helpful, we got a free upgrade in the house we booked and we had access to the elevator as many times we wanted to go up and down. We felt totally disconnected from the stress life and could relax with... More

First off,we took the bus from funchal which gave it a more backpackery sense...especially cuz you have to get off at quinta grande and stop is like nowhere...then we asked some locals how to get there and it meant going down about 2-3 kms (easy laid back walking just watch out for cars as there is NO SIDEWALK). just before... We just picked up on this from an almost throw away comment in the 'Sunflower tours and walks book' but was really glad we went. The cost is still 7.50e return per adult and whilst the lift is pretty basic, it does the job. The views going up and down the 300m cliff are great, especially when you have a... More

Firstly I avoid heights, usually, I dislike flying, cable cars and exposed lifts. Well Fajã dos padres is an extreme example of my worst nightmare. Yet I actually enjoyed the experience and the views on the decent were stunning. When you arrive at the bottom and walk down the remaining steps you enter a lush plantation of exotic fruit trees....
