This is so different. You wonder how, why, who? it's easy to get to in one respect, namely easy access to the location. On the other hand, it's almost totally inaccessible in that you have to descend the lift or get there by boat. I can't really describe the lift, so I won't. Just go and try it. Once on... More

… so please don't go there, it's very peaceful and quiet and I'd like it to stay that way! If you absolutely insist on going there then what you'll find is a quiet little oasis at the bottom of a cliff, a handful of self-catering properties dotted around vineyards and banana plantations… a private pebble beach… and just one restaurant... Spent a day at this little paradise. Arrived by tiny boat which was a real adventure, then relaxed and watched the sea and had an excellent meal at the restaurant. Wonderful to walk around the vineyards and to be in such a peaceful and quiet place. A really memorable day out.

Lovely little hide-away below imposing cliffs, right by the sea. It takes some effort to get there. There's a boat trip from either Ribeira Brava or Câmara de Lobos, weather permitting. Well, the weather wasn't really permitting when we wanted to go, too much wind and thus pretty choppy outside and the boat didn't sail. We went by car, first... More

During our sixth visit to this wonderful island we were looking for something a little different to visit and Faja dos Padres fitted the bill perfectly! Having no head for heights, it was with some trepidation that I entered the lift at the top of the vertical cliff! There are amazing views from the top and during the steady descent... More

Found this place after reading a short review in one of the guide books - a strip of land at the bottom of a vertical cliff face. To get there, come off the main road at junction 3, signed Cabo Girao - but don't head for the cabo. You may see the small sign for Faja Dos Padres, otherwise follow... More

Our first visit to Madeira and if we come again we wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else. Stunning location. Such helpful and friendly people. The food was excellent too - I suppose the only thing was that dinner was very early but a small price to pay to stay in this little part of paradise. The passionfruit pudding is... More

What an amazing day we had at Faja Dos Padres. By chance I found the. On the internet and emailed from S Africa to make a reservation. I dealt with Catarina and she was so helpful answering all my questions. They offer a boat service, collecting us from a pier about 10 minutes from our hotel. Because there were other... More

We wanted to add to what has already been written by other reviewers with directions to get here on public transport. We found them quite hard to get! Take a number 4 Rodoeste bus from Funchal to Ponta Do Sol. the bus stop in Funchal is opposite the marina on the shore front, right by the Rodoeste information kiosk. It... More
