One of our last stops in Sintra. We spent a great deal of time walking around the grounds which are quite impressive. We could have spent more time but we needed a bathroom stop. The inside of the Palace is quite impressive, especially in all the carvings. Most of the original pieces of furniture and art were sold but they... More

Extravagantly decorated 19 century home comissioned by Francis Cook a textile baron who used this as a summer house. There are beautiful grounds and specialist gardens and the architecture is a blend of Portuguese Arabian and Indian styles.

We had a great half day out in this lovely garden and restored palace. Take your time and wander aimlessly along the shady paths and enjoy. But on the return to Sintra make sure you are standing actually AT the bus stop and be prepared to almost lie in front of the bus to get it to stop. A crowd... More

Loved the gardens and palace at Sintra. Walking the gardens was so tranquil and variety of flora was very charming. The palace maintained very well .. some sections were under maintenance so I am sure future visitors would love it more. Weather we got was great thankfully and not a lot of crowd that ensured we enjoyed the stroll through... More

what a great place to visit went to the park and palace as we were around the area , very cheap to get into only 10 euro and well worth it, the gardens are wonderful the grounds fantastic and the palace is out of this world. I would say not suitable for pushchairs and disabled its cobbled steps and steep... More

The first thing I would say about a visit to the Palacio de Monserate is go for the buggy tour, it's very reasonable as like the rest of Sintra it's not a place for the unfit. You can hop-on-off the buggy to take in the sites and enjoy the gardens at your leisure and I would allow a full half... More

Adjectives cannot describe the glorious beauty of this residence. The grounds are enormous and breathtaking. The interior of the house beyond any words I can come up with. Its a still, tranquil, lush garden full of ancient old trees, magical secret paths to explore and grand old roses to view. The presence of the place is not like any stately... More

Took the 435 bus from downtown Sinatra - took about 10 minutes (2.5 euros). The gardens at Montserrat were spectacular - well worth the trip and admission. Crowds here were much smaller than at Pena and Moors Castles - making for a very relaxing and peaceful visit. The palace is under restoration, but it is still very interesting. It is... More

Although a last minute add on to visit (after Pena, Moors and Regalia), it was well worth the visit. The structure itself is impressive and the grounds are beautiful. The different themes in landscaping was very neat to see and the walk on the grounds before approaching the building was quite relaxing. Definitely recommend a visit if time permits.

The palace is being renovated so there is no furniture but the palace itself is simply beautiful. I liked it many times more than the Pena Palace. The garden walk is steep but for a small fee, a guide will drive you around on a delightful garden tour.
