What a shame they let this house fall into disrepair. However it is great to see it being renovated to its former glory. The house is still open whist the work is going on which is interesting to see if you don't mind the sound of hammering and falling over workers. I can't wait to see this finished and back... More

By the time of my visit the palace was already closed but I decided to buy the ticket for the gardens alone. As soon as you walk in you will be hit by an amazing view and astonishing smell of roses coming from all over the place. The gardens are amazing to see at sunset light and the smells is... More

Amazing intricate carving in palace building, which will be even better to see once the present restorations have been completed. Spacious and relaxing gardens to explore included water features and paths up and down slopes

The house has a unique moorish design. The carved walls and hallways are beautiful - I especially liked the upstairs with the octagon design. We weren't able to roam the gardens the way I would have liked because it was raining - however what we did see was lush and colourful. Wear comfortable shoes or hiking shoes as the walk... More

I went to Monserrate without any expectations. When I arrived there I got stunned by both the gardens and the palace. The gardens have a huge variety of plants of several countries, giving it a big diversity. The palace is just something out of this world, specially if you take in consideration that it is located in Portugal, where you... More

Great gardens, waterfall, house with cork shutters, and a cute little palace. I loved the serenity of this particular attraction.

The bus from Sintra drops off at the gate, there is an entrance fee..can't remember..but wasn't too expensive. We explored the garden first, in March there are obviously not too many flowers! but the structures and plants are impressive. Inside there is the most fantastic filigree plaster work, so beautiful. The cafe was nice too. FOR THOSE WITH MOBILITY PROBLEMS... More

Even we went there on closing time it was more than enough to enjoy the gardens, palace, falls. One of the most beautiful architectural and landscape creations.

This architect is inspired by the Persian/Islamic style. The Cook family made this villa to entertain. It is not very big but the architecture, the colours, the gardens, carvings are worth seeing.
