Unbelievable visit to relive part of Portugal's interesting history. The view from up top is unsurpassed and the fine detail that went into the building of this palace is magnificent. Make sure not to miss the stained windows in the chapel. It is a good idea to buy a ticket for the small bus when going up, because it is... More

The grounds were enormous and very hilly! The palace was extraordinary. As a family of four with two children in grade school, we all enjoyed it. It was expensive but worth it. We should have stayed over night in Sintra...this place alone needed a full half day.

We visited here as part of our tour provided by Top Ten Tours. It is fairly high up on the mountain so if you are part of a large tour group on a large bus you will not be driven up here. We noticed that the larger busses stayed in Sintra and those people missed out on seeing the palace.... More

A great palace to visit with lots of gardens to explore, a little disappointing that there was no student discount, and also that we had to pay 15 euros to include the palace interior when 75% of the interior was being refurbished.

This monastery-turned-palace with an exceptionally beautiful setting is a must-see on any visit to Portugal. We went with our expert guide, Cristina (anacristinaquental@hotmail.com) by taxi to the back entrance, where we began our tour at the Chalet. Walking through the grounds, we were best able to appreciate the wonderful gardens that surround the palace. The place itself was a perfect... More

Just go and see - this was something a little like Harry Potter's world - indeed we hear it may have been inspiration for the novels? Weird and wonderful and the gardens cool and plenty of seating to sit and relax (it WAS hot!!!!)

Without question this is great spot to see and a great photo opportunity but make sure if you're coming from the city of Lisbon you take the 434 bus that loops around all the sites of sintra. While we hiked all the way up, it took us well over an hour and we were exhausted for any other activities that... More
