The museum is very spacious and airy, not cluttered at all. While not great art followers we spent two very enjoyable hours there
This is a massive collection of contemporary art spanning many decades and countries. Not all of it was to my taste but I enjoyed 2 hours wandering around and it was free. Definitely worth a visit!
This museum was on our list of things to see in Lisbon. It just so happened that it was pouring down rain when we visited. Add this to the fact that it was free and it was a pretty good museum. I was a little disappointed as they did not have as much surrealist art as I was expecting. There... More
It is quite a serious collection, but I really appreciated the brief explanations of various twentieth century 'isms' with accompanying examples of constructivism, cubism, surrealism and abstract expressionism to name a few. We crossed the courtyard to have lunch in the beautiful cultural centre restaurant - called Este Oeste - and had some really fantastic and reasonably priced sushi. A... More
I really enjoyed this modern art museum. It has a solid collection which was of good quality. Lisbon is not known for its modern art scene so this was quite a surprise. If modern are is your thing (personally I love it), this is definitely a great place to go while in Lisbon.
Museum is located in Belem, Lisbon. Modern and contemporary art. Located in a beautiful modern building in Belem Cultural Center. This museum has a nice collection. We enjoyed it. Museum is free and worth the visit.
This is a terrific collection of art from the turn of the 20th century. Modern Art is now so old! If you know nothing about art, think modern art is trash, do try this museum. It's free, and the explanatory introductions to each section are in English, clear, but extremely helpful and informative. Absolutely no dumbing down here. And what... More
A very thoughtfully laid out museum , full of contemporary art. great curation. And its free entry! I will be visiting this museum again.
Most tourists go to Belem for the Belem tower, or the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, both of which had long queues of people waiting to go in. I am absolutely glad that we stepped out of the queues, and in stead went to the free Berardo Museum. We visited only one flour with the contemporary art, but I now know that... More
Next to all churches, cloisters and lovely alleys in Lisbon, the Berardo Museum is definitely worth a visit. It shows an interesting collection of contemporary art from 1900 till now. All leading 20th century artists are present, although not always with their masterpieces and mostly with only one work. The collection is very well explained by clear descriptions of the... More
