I have a few favourite shops, but my absolute top joy treat is a moment in Arch. Miguel Cancio Martins' beautiful Vista Alegre Chiado shop. Don't miss the upstairs dinning exhibit or especially the collectors items at a fraction of international prices. Every time I visit, I'm reminded what a rare thing good unpretentious service is and I ALWAYS find... More

Gorgeous dinnerware, pitchers, platters. The most unique designs I've ever seen, with vibrant colors, and some of it very reasonably priced. There are two floors of unique collections. Big fan! If you are looking for artistic gorgeous gifts for yourself or others, this is the place to go to. Love it and will consider ordering some sets once I'm settled... More

Vista Alegre is one of the most important and recognized brand of Portugal. All the pieces have high quality and this is an excellent choice if you want to buy something for you or to give to another one. The shop at Largo do Chiado is the oldest one in Lisbon, it's a very beautiful and antique shop with two... More

Staying in Chiado & Carmo

Neighborhood Profile
Chiado & Carmo
The traditionally trendy "Chiado" (literally, "squeak", the nickname of a 16th century poet) offers plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars where you can stop for a cafe or cocktail, after exploring its streets, shops, art galleries, theaters, museums and viewpoints. It's also the home to the statue of the famous statue of portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa, having is usual espresso at "A Brasileira" as he used to. You can also enjoy breathtaking views of Lisbon from the Elevador de Santa Justa or the Carmo Convent, for example. A commercial neighborhood at its core, especially for its Garrett and Carmo streets, Chiado is to this day a mandatory visit in Lisbon.
