Having booked a romantic weekend in Lisbon, we changed plans & actually spent most of it in Cascais. It was late Sept which may be the ideal time: warm, sunny but not crowded. Lots of excellent restaurants, some beaches but we really liked walking along the rugged rocky coast up to Guincho. more

We went to Cascais as part of our Inside Lisbon Sintra Daytrip. It was interesting to compare the crowded beaches and hard to find parking compared to what I am used to in Sydney. Overall, it was good to touch the cold waters of Atlantic Ocean. Brrrrr more

In proximitty to Portugal´s capital Lisbon, you´ll be astonished with the variety of places, monuments beaches, hostels, and stuff to do!.. Had a wonderful day trip to Cascais. Took the train to Estoril and walked along the waterfront to Cascais...about 20 minutes. In town, we ate at one of the numerous sidewalk cafe's. (My young son ate McDonalds..goof.) We then went to the central plaza and "rented" bicycles. I put quotes on rented because you only have to show your Identification... more

Lisbon is a lot like Brazil, with old houses, streets that keep going up and down and kind people. The best place I went there is Estoril, where I walked 2 kilometres down the road to Cascais, where there is a nice beach, really quiet and with an awesome view.
