This is a very busy place to visit. We had enjoyed a long walk from 25th April Bridge (where our ship was docked) to get here but it was worth the walk.

This was my first stop in Belem and waiting in line could not damper my excitement about seeing this old defense tower. It has been well taken care of or very well restored. They limit the number of people allowed in and they have a system set up to regulate people going up the single file spiral staircase. The views... More

This tower constructed in the XVI century (open in 1519) is a beauty of an architectural feat, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a not to be missed place in Lisbon, which by the way is a beautiful city with lots of great places to visit. If you are there don't miss it!!!

Very interesting, with good views from the top. Only 150 people can be inside at a time so either go early, or buy your ticket in advance and save yourself from queuing (we arrived at 11.00 and waited about 45 minutes).

Actually the beauty of the tower is already seen from the outside. There is no need to go inside the tower because there is not much to see. It is not so high to get a breathtaking view. And the most disturbing thing - you have to stand in very long queue to get on the tower and even longer... More

The tower is both beautiful and interesting, with great views from the tops. However the staff we encountered were grumpy and unfriendly. Make sure they don't deliberately try to overcharge you.

Such a beautiful tower in the Tajo River, it is historic and located near the Monastery or Jeronimos, the Presidentail Palace and near the famous Pasteis of Belem...all this is a must even if you are in Lisbon for only 24 hours !

Nice and worth photos from the outside, but inside is nothing but a stair climb to the landing above for the view. Save your entry fee.

If you are in Lisbon / Belem, you really have to visit this tower. Why? Because its beautiful & full of history. Only don't go inside; Queues are very very long & there is nothing to see. The tower is really not high!

At a walking distance from the Monastery of Jeronimos entrance is 6 Euros. Going up the stairs requires minding a semaphore system on each story. It is interesting to imagine soldiers going up and down these narrow stairs and passages in the days the fort was used to defend the city from ships entering the Tejo River.
