This suspension bridge across the Tagus River has the longest central span in Europe, at 1.5 miles. It also looks quite a bit like San Francisco's famed "Golden Gate Bridge," though this one was named after the revolution.

I am not a bridge fan at all (see bilbao reviews for proof) Unless its in NYC or San Fran Im never going to be impressed, HOWEVER, this bridge is connected to the Golden Gate so architecturally it is very similar You can see it from your airplane window as you come in to land its that large! Its impressive,... More

I travelled by train on the tracks under the roadway of the bridge having come from the Algarve. I got a better look when I took the bus from Lisbon to Cascais. The combination of road and rail allows more people to get to and from Lisbon. Very impressive.

The 25th April bridge is the sister of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. You don't need to physically go to the bridge to appreciate it, there are many great spots where you can get a great view and picture of the bridge - from the river bank bars or on one of the open top bus tours.

If you’ve been to San Francisco, this bridge is going to look familiar but on a much larger scale. So much of Lisboa reminds me of SF and both I love!

Lisbon has so many things about it that reminds me of San Francisco, this bridge plays a huge part in it. I saw it everyday from my hotel balcony and it was just really nice to feel like you're...in your home state, almost. The name of the bridge may be weird to some but it's the day that they changed... Travelled over here a late afternoon after a day in Lisboa. Wow! Theviews are fantastic, took so so many pics. Ease of traffic over the bridge too which seemed to flow well, phew. Yeah, beautiful

It is one of the "postcards" of Lisbon. There is a lot of historical significance behind this bridge. It's worth crossing it if you actually have a reason to go to the other side. Otherwise it is just pretty to see from many different points of the city. Makes a good background for photos.

We saw this spectacular red orange bridge from Torre de Belem, Padrao dos Descobrimentos and downtown. It reminded me of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. I thought a magnificent structure like this should have a twin sister in a different continent for people to admire. Across the bridge from the city is a 110 metre tall Monument of... More

You can be forgiven for thinking it is the same as the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco. We only viewed it from a distance.
