This suspension bridge across the Tagus River has the longest central span in Europe, at 1.5 miles. It also looks quite a bit like San Francisco's famed "Golden Gate Bridge," though this one was named after the revolution.

It is one of the "postcards" of Lisbon. There is a lot of historical significance behind this bridge. It's worth crossing it if you actually have a reason to go to the other side. Otherwise it is just pretty to see from many different points of the city. Makes a good background for photos.

We saw this spectacular red orange bridge from Torre de Belem, Padrao dos Descobrimentos and downtown. It reminded me of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. I thought a magnificent structure like this should have a twin sister in a different continent for people to admire. Across the bridge from the city is a 110 metre tall Monument of... More

You can be forgiven for thinking it is the same as the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco. We only viewed it from a distance.

Ponte 25 de Abril. This is the suspension bridge from Lisbon, formerly called “Ponte Salazar” after the name of the “Dictator” who gave the order in the year 1966 to build this bridge. They renamed this bridge with allot of other monuments this in order to remain the 25 April revolution in 1974, who brought the “Democracy” to Portugal. The... More

It is a suspension bridge connecting the city of Lisbon with Almada on the south bank of the Tejo River. It was built by the American Bridge Company which constructed the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge, but not the Golden Gate. With a total length of 2,277 m, it is the 27th largest suspension bridge in the world. The upper deck... More

This impressive bridge wad constructed in the time of the Portuguese dictator SALAZAR and it was named after him Salazar bridge. After the 1974 carnation revolution the name was changed to the 25th of April bridge the day of the revolution - very symbolic.

The best photos I took was when I was on the bus going to Belém. Almost fell out trying to get a decent photo with the Cristo Rei in the background but was well worth it.

I maybe in the minority here but consider me unimpressed with the bridge. Is it big? Yes. Is it awfully similar looking to San Francisco? Yes. There just wasn't much for me to see here. It is a big reddish bridge that connects Lisbon across the Tagus river. I went here, saw it, took a picture and went about my... More

A great bridge to take pictures, during the day or at night. It can be seen from many places in the city.
