Costa da Caparica is a beach strip with decent sand. Tents, chaise-longues and umbrellas are available for rent. We paid €11 for an umbrella and 2 chaise-longues for the whole day. There are restaurants and toilets available. Very close to the beach (about a 4-6 minute walk) there's a commercial area with shops and more restaurants. We stayed somewhere in... More

We had our first surf lessons on this beach by the EPIC Surf School and throughly enjoyed our day at this beach. Although it may become crowded during the weekends, it still has a very relaxed atmosphere with easy access to a nice restaurant and a car park. We rented a huge tent like thing - we got it free... Lovely set of bars and restaurants, with beds and beach service, 30 minutes by car from Lisbon city center. I spend some time at the "KINTIKI" bar- the fist one once you get to the beach complex. Nice food, reasonable price. Had access to the beds, with the shades, really quiet.

Really enjoyed our visit to the beach here. Gets very busy, so don't expect a quiet experience. The water is nice, but extremely cold. We took some nice pictures here and enjoyed being out in the sun. There is no shade anywhere, so be careful as the sun gets very strong. We had to go and get food, just for... More

Really enjoyed the day at the beach here. We rented an umbrella and two chairs for 11 euro for the day which also included table service to order drinks and food from the bar. The waves are massive so lots of fun to swim there or even surf. We travelled from Lisbon on the ferry (10 mins) and took a... More

Other reviews cover details about arriving... but just an added note about sun.... There is virtually no place with natural shade... Unlike the Caribbean or other sunny destinations, there are no palm trees - just short scrubby bushes on top of the dunes. There is no place to escape the sun. Of course, this is the attraction - but also... More

From Lisbon you can get the 161 bus from Areeiro station (or from Praca d'Espanha). It's about 10 euros for a return ticket. 30-45 minutes to get to Costa Caparica (depending on the traffic) Once in the village, you need to walk a bit to the beach, then you can either sit with the crowds or take the little "tourist"... The beach is beautiful, sandy and spacious. I agree with people who claim that. But hold on, I'd like to point out and underline a characteristic that anyone seems to care about: water is literally FROZEN. I experienced swimming in Tenerife (Canary Islands) last year and Australia as well, both are bathed by the ocean but, though bit colder, I... More

This is a good beach to get away from the city for a few hours, however the beaches are crowded. The beach felt safe and there wasn't the constant harassment to buy sunglasses or other junk. The small town has a super market in it which we used to get drinks and snacks from but ever where seemed reasonably priced.

First things first, the beach here is great. It has big waves and is sandy. I like a strong sea and this certainly delivered. The life guards were also very diligent which made me feel safe despite the crashing waves. The main downsides are, 1) getting there on public transport 2) the feeling that the resort has hit hard times.... More
