The area
Neighborhood: Belém
Belém is the "capital of the Portuguese Discoveries" and a photographer's paradise. You can spend an entire day exploring this neighborhood: monuments (Jerónimos Monastery, Belém Tower, Monument to the Discoveries), museums (Coach Museum, Centro Cultural de Belém) and breathtaking views of the Tagus river will make your visit worth your time. Belém also offers a variety of restaurants and cafes, namely the famous - and delicious - "Pastéis de Belém" (typical Portuguese custard tarts; make sure you buy an extra box of those!). Easily accessible from Lisbon's historic center, Belém is a must-do, especially if you're spending more than one day visiting the Portuguese capital.

This was the highlight of our trip to Portugal, for me. We're keen football fans - although my wife spent her couple of hours at the monastery and loved it just as much - so that helps. It was during the 15Euro visit to the Benfica stadium that one of the tour guides recommended a visit to Belem and FC Beleneses stadium. It's a 15 minute walk round the corner from the Pasteis de Belem, so we had breakfast there and gained access to the pitch and lower stands through a gate next to the club shop. There are a terrific views at the back of the stadium, with the river, statue of Christ and bridge in the background. Has to be one of the most picturesque in football. As long as you check out the museum, spend a Euro or two in the club shop, or restaurant, the friendly and proud club staff will be happy to let you have a good look at their beautiful home.

If you are a football fan and you visit the nearby monastery do not miss the chance to visit this beautiful ground. You can just go inside, the entrance is right after the club's store. Be careful,as you go uphill you will find a gas station. To enter the ground turn left right before this station.

This ground must have one of the best settings of any ground. Views of the bridge, statue of Christ and river and monastery.
The ground inside is attractive and fully covered on 3 sides of the ground. It is all seated and a nice alternative to the big 2 soccer grounds in Lisbon.
I just walked upto ground and went in, no one stopped me and took some good pictures.

Unfortunately the split within the club means that attendances are low. Ten euros to watch an uninspiring Friday night third division match.
A shame because a stadium such as this deserves larger crowds.

The Stadium is located behind the Jeronimos Monastery on a Gentle Uphill slope
( The Tall Floodlights can be seen from almost everywhere in this part of Belem ).
I was allowed to enter the Stadium, even though there was no Tour or Game Going on by a Friendly Steward & my first Impression was that this was one of the best Locations for a Club to have their Home Ground. The Stadium is in a Bowl shape with the North and South ends having no Covered Enclosure and the East and West Stands holding most of the Facilities.
It seems a shame that the Club are not more Successful as this Tidy Ground would be a Great Venue to Visit for Away Supporters of any of the Big European Clubs. Football fans who Visit Benfica or Sporting on a Lisbon Holiday should Pencil this One in for a Visit as well.

We were yesterday at Metallica's concert. We came at the stadium in time, ten minutes before the announced starting hour, and we were shocked to find out that only one entrance gate was open (and, for a big stadium, there were quite a few entrances), so we had to wait outside in an enourmous line (we're talking tens of thousands of persons). It took us around 40-45 minutes to get in, and we completely missed the first opening act. Inside there were also huge lines for men's toilets and bands' merchandise. The gig was great, beside some technical problems, which maybe the stadium's employees are not responsible for. My suggestion: decongestion!

Managed to go in stadium for free, this must be one of the best settings for any football gound anywhere. Views of statue, bridge, monastry all add to what is a really nice ground. Different level of ground to both Benfica and Sporting but still worth a visit if a football fan. Plus only five minutes walk from all the attractions of Belem and those custard tarts.

Located at the Belém area, this small but cozy stadium suits a small soccer team of lisbon. Nice attraction if you cannot get the Benfica game at the Luz stadium. You can see very well the game in a good seat wherever you are. Not many option for halftime to drink and eat. Cheap ticket. Went to see a game and it was a very good attraction. If you like soccer and have the chance, go to a game at this stadium.

Great Club, many years if Sports History, and a great view for the Tagus River. You can also have a good lunch at Varanda Azul and visit the Belenenses Store.
