Great for adults and kids. Not too big. Plenty of bathrooms around and places to eat a picnic well signposted. Leave yourself about 2 hours to look around.

It's a nice zoo. Decent selection of animals, and unlike in some zoos, most of the animals could actually be easily spotted as well.

Its a bit run down looking out of season but still a great place to stroll around with some amazing trees and give a lovely quiet break from the city

Good points about this zoo is that there was lots of different animals. There was a dolphin and sea lion show which was in Portuguese but was still fun to watch. this was included in the price. there was an overhead train which went through the whole zoo..My favorites were the big cats...all of them were asleep but still nice... The animals are well taken care of. The enclosure is small, but doesn't seem to be a trouble for most of the animals..except..the aviary. I do hope they'll close the aviary as the birds does seems to be suffocating, especially the parrots. Some of the parrots seems to have gone cuckoo as it starts to pluck of it's feather until... It is really big park so we spent there about 4 hours. Lots of animals but only few shows. Also shows are in portugese so turists cant understand - i think thats a big problem. And seating during birds show is awful because you cant see anything. But after show you can take some pictures with birds - thats nice.... More

it was ok, some of it was lovely. The big cats are a gem to see so close. However some of the enclosures aren't that great. Monkey temples are so old fashioned, no greenery or trees for them. I thought the animals weren't as happy as in other places but they were well looked after and it was raining.

I'm not entirely sure if you can visit a zoo and not consider the conditions in which the animals are being kept. The enclosures where so small with nothing for the animals/birds to do. The parrots were especially upsetting many many birds to tiny aviaries no opportunity to spread their wings never mind fly. The elephants were standing staring at... More

Great Zoo, with some great enclosures, especially for the Great Apes. Also some enclosures that are very old and too small for their inhabitants, especially the pygmy hippos and some monkeys. Still, this is a pleasant place to spend a day. It is not cheap, but you get to ride the cable car and see the dolphin/sea lion and birds... More
