lots of different animals in nice sparse enclosures.. cable cars are a must! good afternoon out in lisbon, not too far from the city and not too expensive (for a zoo!). Lots of good priced places to grab food around the site as well

Great place for the day trip. A lot of animals. Many different activities and not crowded (not sure about different period). But the best was the Dolphin Show!!! Transparent walls of the pool made it completely different experience. You can see the artists not only above the water but also under it. Highly recommended for a visit.

We killed a couple of hours here. It had a huge variety of animals, you could literally walk and walk, they had everything. Some of the enclosures varied heavily, I see some different reactions in the other recommendations, I personally found the conditions of the farm-animals bad. One sheep had huge thick wads of wool and scabs on its head.... More

The zoo is very easy to get to by metro. It's a good size zoo with lots of charm and history. However, that also means that the animal enclosures are old school and not the larger, natural habitat that modern zoos now employ. My 8 and 10 year old got worn out by the hilly walk and enjoyed most of... More

We really enjoyed our visit to this zoo. The animals appeared to be happy and well cared for, and the living areas for most of the animals were interesting and well thought out. We spent almost 4 hours at the zoo. Highlights included the dolphin show and the cable car ride (included in entry fee) which gives you an aerial... More

We had a brilliant time here. The zoo grounds are really pretty albeit a bit hilly for those of you that struggle with walking. The animals and there's a good variety look really well cared for and happy. The cable car ride over the zoo is a brilliant way of seeing the animals unrestricted by foliage as it travels over... Lisbon Zoo is not of the best in the world, but it is the best in Portugal. It's easy to spend a day there, with all the attractions and shows to see. I would recommend taking the Cable Car ride, for a beautiful view of the Zoo and Lisbon, including over Monsanto's Forest.

It is a nice way to spend 2 to 3 hours. Very entertaining shows. Take the cable car ride if you're afraid of heights (the ride is included in the visit fee --> 18 EUR/adult).

I have been to this zoo ten year's ago. I enjoyed it then, but enjoyed it more this time. The unique attractions are that it is near the city centre, it is easily accessible by Metro, Rail or bus and that it has a 20-minute cable car ride over most of the zoo enclosures, so the animals can be easily...
