If you are visiting Belém, the monumental part of Lisbon, take the "elétrico"(tram 15) and go to Algés. Then go on walking through a nice garden and will see this aquarium, the first built in Portugal. Thousand of species are waiting for you!... a trip in the ocean!

Got off the hop on hop off bus after friends recommended this site. We have seen many aquariums around the world but this one was the best by far, the main feature is a spectacularly large tank with a stunning array of fish, sharks, rays etc together with divers cleaning the glass, feeding some of the conger eels and generally... It's a must. If you visit Lisboa, you have to visit the Aquario. It is a wonderful place. The freshwater fauna is one of the Aquarium attractions. You can see animal and vegetable species of the most diversified zoological and botanical groups existing in marine and freshwater ecosystems from all over the world.

Despite a lot of school visits there was enough room to walk around in a unique under water view. The route is very clear and the information on the walls is clear and interesting to read

Everything is so close especially for kids to see with stools provided.Great to see feeding time for seals also near the public. Not like Zoos where things are usually far off.

The "old" Aquario Vasco da Gama is a top place to know more about the different sea species. Take your time and read a bit while you see the species.

Not one of the best aquariums around, it's not that big and the variety of fish is not that wide. On a bright side, they have a couple of very cute otters.
