Our guide was Pedro. Our tour should have been about 4 hours. We had such a great experience that Pedro was still with us after 6 hours. This tour was perfect for our first morning in Lisbon as Pedro gave us an amazing amount of local information that we were able to use for the remaining 4 days in Lisbon.... More

Best part of my trip to Lisbon. Tour guide, Margarita, was excellent. She took us to some great places to try wine, cheese and pastries. The tour itself was fun and interesting and she had lots of good tips on other things to do, where to eat and where to shop. I highly recommend this tour.

We spent two days in Lisbon before heading to Evora for Christmas. The highlight was a 3 hour walking tour on Christmas Eve led by the wonderful Margarida. She guided us through Baixa, Chiado and Alfama with enormous skill, zest, knowledge and enthusiasm. And with a freshness that belied the fact that she does the same tour three times a... More

Just had a great tour by Pedro in Lisbon. He was amazing. So knowledgeable, great English, took us well around and saw some cool, off the beaten path sites. He had such a cool way about him. I’m in my 50s, have lived in 10 different countries, traveled extensively around the world and I can tell you, this guy is... More

Exceptionally well thought out tour that included all the basics, but provided an additional cool element and perspective. Loved all the tastings. This was definitely the tour for us. Thanks Pedro.

What a great way to spend 3 hours! Pedro, our fantastic tour guide, lead us throughout Lisbon, teaching us about the history and culture of the neighborhood. Various snacks along the way kept our bellies satisfied. Highly recommend!

This was an amazing walking tour. Our guide Pedro was so knowledgable about the history, culture, food and politics of Lisbon and Portugal. He was a delightful guide. This was not a tour of the tourist traps of Lisbon. We got to go off the beaten track and explore. My husband and I had a great time. We highly recommend... More

Really enjoyed this walking tour and would highly recommend. Margarida our tour guide was wonderful, friendly and welcoming. As it was only my friend and I doing the walk Margarida was happy to tailor the walk to our needs. Margarida's knowledge and English was wonderful. We really enjoyed the fact that we got to go to places that weren't 'touristy' and were able to experience things off the beaten... More

Joined small group walking tour of Lisbon with Martha as our guide at 10:30 promptly, a lovely introduction to Lisbon. Went at a decent pace, but didn't seem to last the 5 hours. Good walking shoes required as majority of pavements are cobbled and I guess they could be real slippery in the wet. Plenty of breaks to sample food,... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
