As a first impression, it's exceptional. If you've already seen some of the other wonders of Lisboa, it doesn't maintain the strong impact on a tourist. You can actually sit around for a while on the waterfront and simply take in the whole surroundings and the size of Lisboa. For some very narrow stretches, there's even some sand to sunbathe,... Watched the Brazil v Germany world cup game and it was a great spot to soak up the atmosphere! The Beer Museum was cute and the 'Sexiest WC on Earth' was worth a look but didnt really live up to its billing ;-) Attractive architecture and easy to get a cab

although in the best part of the city.... the square is ... too empty!. Only some shops but it looks like a lot more can be done. Of course you can have a look at the river-sea and do some shopping to the famous streets nearby!

I've learned this is the biggest "plaza" in Europe, its quite impressive, the square is sided with the Tagus river and has lots outdoor restaurants and bars. This was the place where the ministers decided Portugal's policy for centuries

This square is soooo vast! And its location near water is great. You can sit there and let the wind play with your hair while seagulls are flying around you. You can see nice yellow buildings, statue, arc, historical trams. Nice place to relax for a while.

It was crowded that day, but when you take a seat with the ocean view you can really feel the contrast of busy city life and calming waves of the ocean.

The square is surrounded with shops and bars. Definitely worth a visit. There is a beautiful arch (Arco da Rua Augusta) with symmetrical buildings on the sides and a bronze statue of the king in the middle. The square leads to the Tagus River. It has a cool Beer Museum and a tourist information facility.

It's where you can eat, people watch and relax. The Museum of modern Design and Fashion is free! Lots of restaurants to choose from; entertainers abound; a seaside area where exhausted travellers can relax, rest and enjoy the sea breeze and watch people doing all sorts of things around. The statue with its buildings are the best quality and biggest... More

Big and calm square near Tejo. Nice to take a walk after dinner and sit near the river for a nice talk if you live near by. Have also a very huge offer of coffee shops but they're very expensive

We watched the World Cup games from our restaurant seats on the square. Scenic, great restaurants and museums abound. Even though people were able to drink on the street, there was never a hint of trouble. Loved it!
