Small, compact streets with interesting buildings and décor - many of the brands one can see across the world - a few more interesting local shops. Nice vibe, some street entertainment, not too many beggars (but some) - nice cafes ; prices quite low for a capital city

Chiado is the name of a square and its surrounding area in the city of Lisbon, Portugal. The Chiado is located between the neighbourhoods of Bairro Alto and Baixa Pombalina. Very unique atmosphere

Due to our schedule, we went on Sunday afternoon. Fun to see, lots of food choices, some shops were closed. We had dinner and enjoyed the people watching. Walked down to the plaza by the water. It was packed with folks watching the huge screen TV for the Soccer Final. Exciting time to be there. Very easy to get to... More

Can't go to Lisbon without going to Chiado. Lot's to see, great to walk around, good shopping and wonderful cafés. Not to miss the Fernando Pessoa statue, at cafe A Brasileira.

Mainly a premium shopping area. It's abiding interest for me is the Alvara Siza Vieira designed pedestrian access route from Rua Chiado through Carmo Terrace to Largo do Carmo. This snails pace project may outlive me I fear. When completed (it's threatened to be imminent) it will make an exciting addition to the Chiado landscape. I look forward to its... More

Great restaurants and shops around every corner. It's a great place to spend an afternoon walking around, having coffee, gelato and tapas.

Chaido is a happening place. Lots of shops, bookstores, cafes and tourists. Street performers keep it interesting. Just up Garret (the main drag) from the Mall, on the left side of the street is a courtyard with three cafes. They each have good food, reasonable prices, slow-paced service, and a fine atmosphere.

A lot of bustle and very crowded, this is a shopping area. We didn't really see much that we wanted to buy - it is not really for tourist shopping, but an interesting area to see. Combine it with the other neighborhoods for a walking tour just as the guidebooks suggest. Be aware the Barrio Alto doesn't open until the... More
