We were really happy that we chose to stay in this lovely area. It was close to shops as well as bars and was not too noisy at night. If you can stay in a privately rented apartment and not hotel then do try to as it made the experience even more wonderful.

Chiado is one of the most iconic and traditional neighborhoods of Lisbon. Lying between Bairro Alto and Baixa. As a cultural zone that is, here we find several theaters such as the Teatre S. Luiz, the Teatre da Trindade, and the Theatre of São Carlos, the only opera house in Portugal. Chiado became an important trade center of Lisbon, one... More

One of the most bustling squares in old Lisbon and there's a MacDonalds too for your hot summer's quench of thirst. Beware of mild harassment at night but you"ll do fine if you can reject them firmly yet politely.

Checkout the small local typical restaurants in the area but don't eat the cheese offered as it's not free and check your bill afterwards. Dancing and music till early in the morning. Cafes are expensive unless you go off the main streets

This is near Rossio and Rua Augusta, easily reachable for all tourists not to miss it. It used to be an old part of Lisbon with few people but it has changed and now it is full of life night and day. There are modern and traditional shops, restaurants and bars in the narrow alleys and it is an interesting... More

On a negative, we arrived and they said that we couldn't have our reserved table as it was raining? The majority of the tables are under brush canopies which the rain came through and they didn't seem to have a bad weather plan. Anyway, we were offered the alternative restaurant which had a roof but had a different menu (and... More

When on city breaks it can be hard to find where to go for a good night out if you don't know the city. Come here and you'll not disappoint, literally hundreds of bars door to door so you can't not have a great time. Cheap drinks and locals casually drink hete till 4am with no trouble at all!

This is modern Lisbon with chain stores and high prices etc. Great area to walk through. Lots of restaurants serving a wide variety of food options.

It is still a very run down neighborhood. I took a few pictures of architectural interest. There are some very interesting old book-stores with vintage prints, some boutiques with interesting clothes.
