Look at it as a trip back in time more than another nice view

Go to see it and take a picture, but there is no reason to wait in the queue or pay to go up. If you are healthy and want to see the views, just walk up the stairs or through the streets as you explore the neighborhood. You will end up in the same place.

The Santa Justa elevator looks fantastic, so we were keen. Turned up mid-afternoon to be confronted by a very long queue, so decided we could make better use of our time and come back later. Turned up at 8.30 next morning to take the first ride of the day. No queue whatsoever then. The ride (including return journey) costs 5... More

Good views of the city and as means of transport for reaching Bairro Alto. Make sure you go with a 24h travel card, with which the journey is included, and then there is an optional nominal charge for going up to the viewing platform. Beware of timings as some people were disappointed when we went at night (closes at 11pm).

I suppose this is a must in Lisbon: built by Gustave Eiffel the Elevador de Santa Justa, situated in the heart of old Lisbon deserves a visit. At the top the you will see Lisbon at your feet! Try and you will not forget the experience...

We paid the 5 euros for the rides (up & down) and to the viewing platform. Beautiful views. Only 10 people allowed at a time so there can be a short wait.

It is a steel construction with an elevator???...which you have to wait in line to use and pay 5 euro????It should be free of charge...anyway, I was not impressed by the idea, and I didn't use it, although it was just outside our hotel. If you'd like a great view, visit the surrounding hills.Never understood the architectural connection with the surrounding... After waiting quite some time we paid 5 € each to get up with this elevator. It took us not even a minute to get up there and the view was nice, but we could have walked this way up ourselves! To get further up, for probably a nicer view we would have paid another 5€, something we weren't been... More

If you want the best view of Lisbon, you go here. I had luck with no crowed at all, maybe because it was raining. I also had chance to ride on the lift. When I went to the top I was stand. Amazing 360 view. Simply gorgeous. It was little bit windy, I actually almost drop my camera, so be... More

A place different from the usual, edited, historic and well-maintained. Even if you'd say you paid a visit worth make it much is for other places to visit.

The lineup can get quite long so I suggest early or later in the day. We had an apartment near by (could see this out our living room window) so could grab an off peak time. Glad we did wonderful experience.
