Another great historic elevator

It looks like a medieval bell tower, and is worth the small amount of money to step back in time as you are taken up to the Barrio Alto

Beautiful historic elevator - very evocative of another age. Well worth climbing the stairs right to the top for 360 degree view over all of Lisbon. You really get a feel for all of the steep hills dropping down onto the port. This was one of our last places to visit on our yellow bus tickets and it was lovely... More

I can honestly say I've never before seen a free-standing elevator in the middle of a city. The elevator itself is beautiful, as it was designed by a Portuguese student of Gustave Eiffel. The lines to go up can be quite long sometimes, but the view from the top is lovely. The elevator actually has a purpose, as it can... More

We queued for about 15 mins, it was €5 return in the elevator. The structure is amazing, very beautiful iron work. There is a narrow spiral staircase to the top platform. You get 25% off selected Yellow Bus tours with the used ticket.

This was a wonderful way to view the Lisbon city skyline from a central location. The fare of €5 is fairly steep although the waiting time was fairly minimal. The lift itself is very old fashioned, like something from a period film set. We enjoyed Lisbon on a fairly clear April day and were treated to a fantastic view of... More

There is an observation deck on top of the elevator which offers great views panoramic views of the city but rather than queue up and wait up to 20 minutes to ride the elevator up to observation deck it's better if you walk up to Chiado and enter the observation deck from the top. It costs 1.50 euros to access... More

Good views of Rossio and beyond, especially of the castle and convent. The elevator does not run continuously.

I am glad we went up with the elevator Santa Justa instead of walking up. It normally cost 5 euros, but we had the 24 hours day pass from Carris (metro, tram, bus) for 6,50 euros and the elevator was included. I would not recommend paying just to go up and down. Once up, you can pay an additional 1.5... More

We queued on a Sunday morning (around 10) for 40 minutes. The lifts go up and down once every 10 minutes or so. We were fine with the wait, and it was only 5€ but you could get much better views for free in other parts of Lisbon.

Fantastic panorama - make sure you go up to the Rooftop viewing spot. Wonderful views to the sea and the castle over Lisbon rooftops.
