Rossio Square is the central hub of everything so you can't miss it on any trip. There is a great tourist information at the bottom of the square opening at 10am and there is a metro station in the square, handy if you are getting out and about. The square is ice with some lovely buildings however if you compare... More

The square is sourrounded by more splendor historical buildings of the city, including several fountaints. It is a favourite settlement for pigeons. It is a start of the big bd.Liberdade Northbound and the start or end of the lovely Augusta street Southbound. Here is the main railway station and from here you can view the St. George castle walls Eastward,... More

Nice area to chill out and people watch. On our first night in Lisbon we came down here and watched a French brass band play for hours. Was a great atmosphere! Gets very busy and you will no doubt be asked if you want drugs while you are sitting having your ice-cream, but a polite no thanks, sends them away.... More

Lots of restaurants and shops all along this square. Most are priced for tourists and expensive. The fountains and statue are worth snapping a photo or two of. Be weary of the young usually buff guys walking around constantly asking you if you want drugs. It's just herbs they are trying to pedal and make a dollar off of you.... More

We traveled in by train from Sintra and it was so much more relaxing than driving (probably cheaper too!) This is the place to see the sights of Lisbon. The lift, the trams, Saint George, even Belem, all are accessible on foot or by one of the tour buses. Loads of shops and cafes and the road down to the... More

The Rossio has been a meeting place for people of Lisbon for centuries. Some of the cafés and shops of the square date from the 18th century, like the Café Nicola, where poet Manuel Maria Barbosa du Bocage used to meet friends. Other traditional shops include the Pastelaria Suíça and the Ginjinha, where the typical Lisbon spirit (Ginjinha) can be... More

There is a metro station nearby and also some coffee shops, fastfoods etc. A big square, serving as a meeting point also. Just watch the not so normal placing of the statue!!

Rossio Square is fringed with restaurants which spill out onto the sidewalks. It's a pleasant place to eat and people-watch. We had a late supper at one restaurant there, sitting outside and enjoying the cool evening weather. We ordered, and while we were waiting, the waitress returned with a small plate of thin toast and two small pots of something.... More

We spent some time in central Lisbon last month. We were amazed at the regularity and the openness with which we were approached on the streets with offers of drugs. We noticed that one pusher - a good-looking, well-built man in his twenties, who looked as if he could take care of himself - patrolled a particular stretch of pavement... More

We got to know about this place through the tour guide Clara, who gave us a free walking tour. It was a strategic meeting point to go around the area and know about the architectural history of the place. Clara did a good job is providing us the richness of the history and culture of Old Lisbon, allowing us to... More
