Great square in the middle of Lisbon. It was our first look at the city, so I was impressed immediately. Felt a lot like the Senado Square in Macao. one thing to watch out for - guys approaching you to buy drugs. There are a lot of them around the squares.

People, small shops, restaurants, bars, more shops, and cofee bars, music in the streets (probably some fados mixtured with arab or Indian music, yellow tramways, steep strets to the Chiado, and now and then, magnificient views over the river and the Atlantic Ocean. it merits a long stroll .

This seems to me the down town of Lisbon, it is a good starting point although you will find yourself going to this area a lot during your itinerary to visit other places.

So much to see around Rossio Square, very convenient to start from here and walk to other attractions. When we went there, people were setting up cute little tents for the Portuguese/Spanish cultural festival and it was nice to see.

We pass through here daily coming down from Bairro Alto. There's so much going on currently a fair for the past 3 days selling fresh bread and meats and other things and hand crafts. Beautiful little square with two fountains and lots of people

It'd be a nice place to relax (in one bar they do beers by the litre) but in the hour and a quarter that we were sat on the terrace, we were pestered 7 times by people either trying to sell drugs, begging or playing music for money.

Nice and pitoresque square, filled with tourists and locals passing by. It is a kind of crossroads to northern Lisbon and the Comercio street. Some traditional teahouses such as Confeitaria Nacional and Confeitaria dos Ingleses are on its corners.

You hear the horror stories about cities and they can affect your opinion. Always checking where your phone is, your handbag etc. We grabbed a taxi from our hotel which cost us about 6 euros. So cheap here, The square is beautiful. In some areas actually majestic. Fountains are bewitching. Street entertainers are fabulous and non intrusive. Lots of shops,... More

I thought this city square was beautiful with the state, tile sidewalk and fabulous fountains. It is a great place to people watch, and just relax. We saw no signs of theft, but were careful and kept bags close to our bodies. We walked a lot of side streets and had no offers of drugs and saw nothing out of... More

The official name is A Praca do Dom Pedro IV. On the North end it is bounded by the magnificent Teatro Nacional Maria IV. and it is surrounded by many shops and restaurants, even has a McDonalds. Starbucks is just around the corner. I always stop at the Pastelaria Suiza for pastries, etc. a great place to relax and people... More
