Well worth a few hours criss crossing the grid of streets. Many places to stop for a beer or a coffee and specialist fabric shops get top marks

It comprises the grid of streets north of the Praça do Comércio, roughly between the Cais do Sodré and the Alfama district beneath the Lisbon Castle, and extends northwards towards the Rossio and Figueira squares and the Avenida da Liberdade. A shopping heaven ,Great atmosphere !

Just down the hill from the Chiado area of Lisbon, Baixa is a continuation of the shops and cafes that you will find in the Chiado. Again there are lots of shops to visit, streets to wander and cafes to relax in. It's a great place to watch the world go by, particularly in one of the cafes around Praca... More

There is always a high end shopping area every where you go, this is it! Fantastic views, fantastic shopping, prices of all sorts, all old cobble stone streets with restaurants and squares every where. Everyone needs to visit this area!

This is where the heartbeat of Lisbon lies. It is a flat area between hills leading from the upper square to the shore of the Tagus River. Great buildings, nice cafés & restaurants, souvenir shops: this is a stroller's paradise as well as a shopping heaven. Most of the streets are pedestrian, which make it easy to walk around, sit... Unbelievable place for having the views of old town, narrow streets with night life taking place on them. There is no plain place, you can always walk up or down. Must see...

The architecture is stunning and the neighborhood is filled with excellent restaurants and stores. It is the perfect place for late night stroll or just to walk around a bit before checking the sunset from the Pier right across Augusta's Arch.

We had 7months old baby with us, stairs to upper level are a bit scary. Tickets were 1,5e per adult, baby did not need a ticket.

Every city has it's shopping area and Cidade Baixa is it. Though what is nice is it has some character with the architecture and terrain. There are side streets, alleys, hills, and turns. A nice area to walk around and people watch for sure.

This are is one of the most beautiful in Lisbon. The walk along Rua augusta from Rossio to Praca do Comercio is a classic and you will be able to see the arch from afar. Avoid the dodgy characters selling anything from counterfeits to drugs. Boy are they annoying. I had never noticed as they rarely bug portuguese but once... More
