If you decide to walk from the centre be warned it is quite a hike with some steep hills and steps, also make sure you know the way it is easy to go the wrong way....we did! Take the tram or bus or taxi (they are as cheap). Once there you need to get a ticket...arrive late and it's very... More

This is really worth the hike up the streets for this castle and park. There is a lovely park area and the view of the city is the best. You can sit peacefully by the cafe and watch the peacocks walk around and take a break from the walk. It is in Alfama the oldest and most lovely part of... More

I cannot comment on the castle itself and its grounds beyond the restaurant area, but like reviewers before us we tried to take Tram #28 to the castle and it was packed. Soooooooooooooooo, the six of us ( yes 6 : 4 adults, a 7yr old and 8 mnth old baby and a full sized stroller) took the ride of... More

From the castle, you'll have a great view over the city. It's also nice you can walk around on top of the castle walls and even get into the towers. You have to pay an admission fee to get in, but it's well worth it in my opinion.

The kids really liked to run around on the narrow walkways on top of the castle walls. It has a nice wview over central Lissabon but can be a hardwalk up the hills. We tried to get the tram but it was really packed, you need to get on the tram at the starting point!

Nice views and a great place to just chill out in the shade on a hot day in Lisbon. Not very big, but worth a visit for sure. Just remember there's an uphill walk.

The castle is beautifully restored. If you are not afraid of heights you can walk on the ramparts and have beautiful view over Lisbon. The walk from the centre to the castle is very steep and it is better to take the bus 737 from Rossio (it stops right in front of the gate to the castle) or the picturesque... More

The view is incredible, no doubt about it. That said, there are other locations in Lisbon you can find a majestic view of the city (a few lookout points). It is neat to walk around the Castle and climb through the walls, but if you've been doing Europe for a while (or in my case, just spent a day in... More

Well worth making your way up through the old streets to this moorish castle, if only for the views of the April 25 Bridge, Christ The Redeemer statue, rio tejo and Lisbon city centre from the ramparts. Reasonable admission and we didn't feel as if we were in a tourist trap.

Get your hiking shoes on because from where the bus drops you off, you do need to walk up hill to this site. Once you get there, you are going to be amazed! Walking on the castle walls is awesome. On the day that we went, there was music down in the town that wafted up the the parapets and... More
