The Castelo's a big fraud. It's a relatively modern reconstruction of the medieval structure, and there's really not much to see aside from the views. I was really disappointed with the castle. I noticed on the way up that the guidebook refers to the castle as medieval, only "medieval" is in quotes. That's right, it's reconstructed "medieval." If you want great views of the city, then visit the castle. You get to see most of the city from the castle, which is high above the city centre, but still close to it. If you want to walk up to it, it will take a strenuous 30 minute walk from the city centre. You can't see the castle... more
