If you go there after seeing the views from one of the free viewing points in Lisbon, you will be dissapointed. Of course, the views are impressive, but the rest - you will see mostly the walls - is just not what you would expect for a quite expensive fee.

Whitin walking distance, or by TRANVIA, an amazing medieval castle, full of history form ancient arabs livng in this area. You can experience what it meant to live and possibly fight from inside the castle; overlooking the River Tajo. Worth taking a good camera.

Go for the views...and oh yeah, check out the castle while you're there. Definitely worth a trek up the hill while you're in Lisbon.

Despite the rain, the views were wonderful and we enjoyed a very nice stroll all around the vast grounds. Highly recommend.

Amazing view of the city but I found the fee very expensive. The guide was really nice and knew how to explain the historical details in a funny, interesting way.

This site is a must see for anyone visiting Lisbon. My favorite part was walking the dizzying walls and experiencing a castle with no guard rails. You really get a feeling for what it was like living in an ancient castle and a true feel for the dangers. Certainly the views of Lisbon are outstanding. I particularly enjoyed viewing the... More

The visit was interesting and informative. It is quite an effort to walk up to the castle, but the views from the top of the battlements across Lisbon are worth it.

I have been twice in Lisbon and I love this Castle! Amazing views and amazing in the inside. Totally worth it to pay as many times as you can. Fantastic if you are planning to see the sunset is the best place in the whole Lisbon, very romantic!

Great walk up the hills to get to the castle, but not for the faint of heart-it's a good climb. A wonderful piece of Portuguese history that gives a glimpse into the great power that was ancient Portugal. There is a fabulous restaurant outside the castle that is worth a look. Wander around the great cobblestone streets and get one... More
