This museum is small but that makes it do-able in a couple of hours. The collections contain some very interesting artefacts and because there are a few in each it isn't overwhelming like some bigger museums where you either slog round and take very little in or pick and choose and risk missing something great. The Lalique is exquisite and... More

The museum is on a human scale (-of a ground floor), but what wealth! Paintings, decorative arts, jewelry, furniture, archeology make it a must / quite interesting!!

The variety of the collection plus the audio guide which paced the visit perfectly ensuring that some images will stay with me for a while. I was lucky to have perused my guide book in advance of my visit so knew a lot about Gulbenkian himself plus the range of what to expect. € 5 is the admission cost (free... More

Wonderful art collection from pre-history to the Impressionists and all perfectly manageable. A series of rooms which give an overview of a particular period in art from Egyptian, through Greek and Roman, to Chinese and then Europe of the 18th and 19th centuries. Artefacts, sculpture, rugs, furniture and paintings, all are the finest examples in this marvellous private collection of... More

This extraordinary private collection encompasses works that range from the ancient to the contemporary. There are two art museums on the campus. One houses modern and contemporary works and the other everything else. Among the contemporary works, I was pleased to find pieces by artists new to me. The Gulbenkian Museum proper offers a sweep of one man's extraordinary collection.... More

High quality pieces. I especially liked the Islamic room with iznik tiles. Nice size without being too large. Have to check your coat and backpacks.

We visited this museum based on a guide book recommendation. We caught a taxi from downtown Lisbon for about 5 euros. The museum has a nice collection of artifacts but not as many paintings as we're used to seeing. It took about 90 minutes to see everything at a leisurely pace. We did not have time to see the nearby... More

I visited this museum on my second visit to Lisbon. It is well worth a visit and easy to find as it is close to two metro stations. I would suggest reading up on the items on display before making a visit and then being selective on what you wish to see as there is a variety of items on... More

Such a diverse collection of beautiful and unusual objects brought together by one man over a great many years. They also host music events. The café has great local cakes. The shop also has good gifts.
