Although everyone had told me that this is a "must visit" place, I was very disappointed in it. I went there two times and both were terrible. I already new that I'm not a super party girl, but this was just too much! Drunk, unpleasant people all around, some of them just disturbing you by some drunk questions and hitting... More

Amazing side streets, eclectic selection of restaurants and bars, interesting selection of independent outlets and stunning contrast between day and night. Funicular(s) are great fun too. Must see area to discover Lisbon at all levels

This area has something for everyone! Whether its bars, live music, or great food, if your hungry and want to be seated straight away id advise going down 8, as this is when all the restaurants start to fill up. As for the bars, these tend to be quiet until about 11!

This is where the good restaurants are, but they are sometimes hidden. We used our iPhone gps, but the addresses are sometimes misleading, as the place is around the corner. Weekends there are wild, especially with the narrow streets, pedestrians and cabs.

The Bairro Also is a maze of streets and by lanes during the day and a crowded happening place at night. During the daytime, the place is a quite neighbourhood which you can explore at your own pace and check out typical portugese homes. The buildings can be distinguished as pre & post earthquake with external supports on those buildings... More

Don't miss this. Pack crowed with young people, bar hopping and boy/girl watching. Nightlife, bars , narrow streets, good atmosphere!

One of the three main sections of the old town area of Lisbon. Our hotel was in the Bairro Alto; we spent the first day getting in touch with the steep cobblestone sidewalks in this gritty neighborhood. It became easier as we found our way around. If you are not used to steep up & down streets, this area is... More

Well, if you searching for night life and having a bit of fun, this is the place to visit. Every other street corner you find something to do, something to eat or a place to party! A true mediterranean experience!

Lots of uphill hiking, not as quaint as many other old towns, lots of touristique dining and drinking. Well reviewed restaurants are harder to find. Don't go without a map!

Lots of restaurants and bars. Don't go to the restaurants where people are on the streets dragging tourists in, they are generic menus and poor service. We had out best meal and wine here and very reasonably priced. Lots of Fado if you want and cherry brandy served in plastic glasses till late from a kiosk in the square.
