I took the ferry over to go visit the Cristo Rei. I decided to walk up...and up and up and up! Following the signs that lead up to the sanctuary. I arrived at 19:45 and it apparently closes at 18:45- so I saw the back of Cristo Rei! Would have been nice if they had put the opening hours on... More

The big statue of Cristo Rei, imitating the Rio de Janeeiro Crist statue, is an impressing monument seen from far. It is located on the southern bank of the Tagus river in the municipality of Almada city. There are plenty parking places nearby The access is by crossing the river through the nearby 25thv April bridge. Almada is quite close... More

Certainly a place worth visiting. If you are not into the religious experience, the view is also devine. It is a long walk from the ferry, especially in summer time, so take the bus or drive up there. By the way, the bar does not sell anything other than water, sodas, chips, icecream and sweets. No food!

Very easy to get to. Get the metro to Cais do Sodre and get a boat over to the other side. Once you come off the boat and out of the exit, turn left and keep going straight, in front of you will see lots of bus stops. Find the stand for the 101 bus and this will take you... More

You have to cross the river to get here but if you want a breathtaking view then it is worth it. Taking the ferry from cais do sodre to cacilhas, then the 101 bus direct to the cristo rei, you are presented with this towering monument and a spectacular view (especially on a clear day!). You can go inside and... More

We took the metro to Cais de Sodre, ferry and then a bus to see the sanctuary and it was worth the trip! Amazing views and the statue is simply breath taking :) Its on the other side of Lisbon (Calchas if i remember) which is a small town. It was nice to see the other side.

If you have time to spare in Lisbon i recommend for you to crossica the river and come here. The acces is not easy, difficult to know how to go, but once you are up there everything is worth it.

It's quite out of the way, but it's easy to access by a ferry and then a bus. Definitely worth a visit. No queues and an awesome view.

Lost for words thats i felt at the top you see Lisbon and beyond . Opening Times 9h30 às 18h15 We took the ferry from Cais do Sodre terminal, costing about 5euro return, crossed the river in about 10 minutes, jumped on the 101 bus, 2euro return, paid 5euro to go to the top and it was worth every penny...
