The statue itself didn't really impress me, but the view from the top is great. One way to get there is to take a ferry from Cais de Sodre to Cacilhais and from there, bus 101 goes straight to Cristo Rei.

We travelled over from the City using the ferry from Cais d' Sodre and the 101 bus from the ferry terminal, both being extremely cheap for a return ticket. The statue is very impressive and whilst we've not been to its counterpart in Rio the views from up here are spectacular. The whole of Lisbon and the river are laid... More

Allocate sufficient time for the journey from Lisbon. Just missed the ferry as I had to buy a separate ticket as even though its the same ticket that is used for the rail, you can't use the same one for rail and water. So after waiting another half hour, arrived at the ferry terminal on the other side to see... More

Christ the King, a catholic sanctuary and shrine, built in 1959 overlooking Lisbon city across the Tagus river. It was inspired by the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro and was erected in grateful acknowledgment for the fact that Portugal was spared from the ravages of World War II. It looks amazing from afar, but when you... More

For 4 Euros you can take the lift to the top of this monument and have great elevated views of the City of Lisbon. The views are pretty good from the bottom but its probably worth another 4 euros for the panorama view of the surrounding area. To get there you take a ferry to Cacilhas from the terminal near... Well worth a visit, walk or get the Metro to the port area (watch your bags around here !!) then get the ferry that runs every 20 minutes across the river - 5.6 euro return then get bus 101 - runs every 30 minutes up to the statue, this is only a 10 minute ride. The views are spectacular along... More

We did not go up the elevator and didn't need to as i got lost twice driving and crossed the 24 april bridge over the Tagus so saw it close on the opposite side of the river and then when crossing the bridge it is in front of you. Spectacular sight and very impressive statue of christ.

You can view this statue from almost everywhere in Lisbon and when you get there the sheer size and presence of it is truly amazing. The views out over Lisbon from the statue area aren’t too shabby either. We enjoyed the mini adventure getting to Cristo Rei, the Metro, the ferry and the bus were all on time and relatively... More

Bit of a schlep to reach it: you have to take the ferry from Cais do Sodre, then take a coach to the statue. But from the top you excellent view across Lisbon.

the best place to see Lisbon from the other side of the Tajus River. Go in the morning because the sun is over Lisbon. Don´t miss it. Is easy to go there:by boat, car, taxi, or train. And the place is itself very nice . GO up by the elevator
