Description: Private Tours For the Culturally Curious! Perfect for travelers, foodies...
Private Tours For the Culturally Curious! Perfect for travelers, foodies and art lovers who want more than a mass tourism experience • Lively and knowledgeable experts • We are local scholars with a passion for the food, wine, culture and history of Portugal • Excellent English-speaking • Easy walks downhill, or luxury vehicles with heat and A/C • Insider tips on restaurants and places locals visit • FREE rides on historic trolleys • Access car-free historic quarters and go inside sights • No megaphones, headsets • Affordable. ----- To really know Lisbon one must go into the small maze-like streets of the city's old quarters, where automobiles are limited and real life unfolds in pedestrian friendly streets and squares. The young and vibrant guides and scholars who lead our tours are not part-time students or actors who memorize scripts, or offer free tours to large groups without advance reservations. We carefully choose historians who are talented at speaking on Lisbon's treasures, and the amazing stories beneath them. After each tour our staff is available to assist with free city maps, additional sights to see, and restaurant or shopping suggestions. We look forward to bringing Lisbon alive for you in truly amazing, historic and relevant detail.

We thought we had booked a 3 hour food tour, what turned out was a 6 hour walking tour in the very hot sun, with 3 small tastes, one standing up in the street. The guide was good, the trip was bad

This review is not for Lisbon Explorer Tour. We do NOT have a 3-hour, nor a 6-hour food tour. We do have a wine tasting that is 2-hours, and it takes place inside, at one location, and at night. We have kindly asked TripAdvisor to move this review to it's proper location. More

We had a most interesting and informative look at Jewish Lisbon. Paolo was absolutely fantastic, giving us a whole new and personal insight into Portugal and Lisbon in particular. It was not just about buildings and monuments but about real life issues which Poalo conveyed in such an interesting way. The time just whizzed by. Oscar and Ilan

We (my wife, 8 year-old daughter, and myself) had a tour with Paolo the other day, and it was superb. Enthusiastic, open, friendly, and a font of knowledge about the Jewish experience in Lisbon. We learned so much from him. Overall, one of the highlights of our trip (and that's saying a lot because our trip was great).

We visited Lisbon late May into early June. We did the table top tour and and the tour of the Alfama district. Both tours were excellent. Justin our tour guide is very knowledgeable. We had a great time sampling food and wines and then touring Alfama the next morning. It was a great start to our trip!

Paola was our guide and he was incredible. We learned so much. It was almost as if we were taking a college course. He is very knowledgable, but interesting at the same time. Could have listened to him forever. We highly recommend Paulo and Lisbon explorers for your next tour of Lisbon. And, on top of being so good, the... More

This has to rate as the best personal tour we have ever taken. We were overwhelmed with Paolo's knowledge of the Jewish history of Portugal and Spain. He is incredibly enthusiastic about every bit of knowledge he imparts to you. At the end of the four hour tour, he asked us how we enjoyed the tour and I said to... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon with Paolo. He is one of the best guides we have ever used, and we have spent time with many guides over the years. He was engaging in his descriptions of the Jewish history of Lisbon including the not so well known facts. The tour was the highlight of our visit. He clearly loves his... More

We took two personalized tours with them, both with Lilly. So it is just me, my wife and Lily (Liliana). She has an extremely appealing personality with a ready wit and laughing eyes. We basically treated her like a walking encyclopedia and talked about everything from history to linguistics. The first tour was of Sintra. My only complaint there was... More

We had the great fortune of booking Justin from Lisbon Explorer for our night at Baro Alto Wine Bar in Lisbon. It was one of the more memorable events we have had in all our vacations! Justin was excellent. His knowledge of Portuguese Wine, Culture, Politics, History, Religion and the European Economy was phenomenal. He was very easy to talk... More
