The young and vibrant guides and scholars who lead our tours are not part-time students or actors who memorize scripts, or offer free tours to large groups without advance reservations. We carefully choose historians who are talented at speaking on Lisbon's treasures, and the amazing stories beneath them. After each tour our staff is available to assist with free city maps, additional sights to see, and restaurant or shopping suggestions. We look forward to bringing Lisbon alive for you in truly amazing, historic and relevant detail. « less

We recently visited Lisbon,Portugal seeking our possible Jewish roots there. Paolo Scheffer is one of the most fantastic tour guides we have used. Aside from his being the only Jewish tour guide, he provided us with an in-depth visit covering art, history, and politics in Portugal. Many of the insights he gave us explained the larger picture of the Jewish... More

This is a bit late. We did the group walking tour of Lisbon in April 2014 which was fabulous. Lots of history, enthusiasm and hidden gems. We stayed on at the last minute and booked an evening culinary tour as we weren't ready to give up this wonderful experience. The "group" was small as their maximum is 8 which allows... More

3 couples took a 3 1/2 hour tour of Jewish Portugal with Paolo Scheffer. He was amazing! Had us totally captivated with his story telling and abundance of knowledge. We could have spent hours more with him. I highly recommend him for an eye opening experience in Lisbon.

Our family booked with Lisbon explorer for a port stop during our cruise. Lily met us with the mini bus driver at the pier. She drove us into the old town and then we explored on foot. We stopped for pastries, coffees as well as their traditional portuguese drink. Then we visited Belem and the Monastery. And of course made... More

We had a great afternoon with Paolo Scheffer, taking the Jewish Lisbon tour. His rave reviews are well earned and say it all. My surprise was not at all about Paolo... tour with him, you'll be pleased. (And book very early! He is popular and there is only one of him!) Our surprise was Antonio, who handled the booking online.... More

We took two tours with Paolo during our visit to Lisbon in July 2014 and on a scale of 1-10, Paolo is a 100! His knowledge is deep and his love of Portugal makes history come alive. His English is excellent. It was like spending two days with a great story teller - you could not help but pay attention... More

My wife, daughter, and I did the Jewish Lisbon tour with Paolo Scheffer. Based on TripAdvisor reviews, this was actually the first tour I booked for our trip. Paolo is extremely enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge of the history of the Jews in Portugal. This history has not been particularly kind to the Jews and was much worse than what... More

The Jewish tour of Lisbon with Paulo was truly one of the highlights of our two and half week trip - and our two children ages 12 and 14 enjoyed it as well. He was incredibly knowledgable and passionate about the Jewish history of Portugal. It was fascinating to hear his personal story and to learn about the deep roots... More

With 5 friends, we shared a most perfect day with Paulo. He shared his love of country with us and walked us through the history of Portugal in a deeply personal style. His passion was infectious. His knowledge was deep and rich in detail. He was the most amazing guide I have ever had. I look forward to returning to... More
