Me and my three mates turned up to play this highly acclaimed course expecting great things and we were not disappointed. Yes the buggies are expensive compared to other courses but you do not have to pay you can walk. We all enjoyed the layout and the whole experience and we can see why it is ranked so highly. When... Some of the previous comments on here are needlessly harsh. Oitavos is a good golf course and pleasant experience but I have played most (if not all) the 'top' golf courses in Portugal and this ranks well down the list. The course is well maintained, greens are very good, and some of the holes on the outer section are spectacular... More

My wife and I recently played Oitavos Dunes in late May with another couple. I can't believe this course is ranked #68 in the world. It would not be # 68 in our home state of New Jersey USA. On arrival to clubhouse was unkempt and the staff was unfriendly. The course was poorly maintained as the turf was dry... More

Just played oitavos dunes loved the course but ...70 euros for a buggy really !!! Never paid this much anywhere :( and to compound this the clubhouse bar is closed on a Monday so after a tough round of golf in gale force wind there was nowhere to get refreshment !!

This course was a big disepointment. They want label it as a links. A links course is built on sand close to the sea, no trees and no stones anywhere. Only 3 holse qualifies for that. The condition of the fairways, bunkers and teeboxes is poor. The greens are ok. The way they maintane the hole course is bad, and... More

Dear Mr Peter B. Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you found Oitavos Dunes to be a big disappointment. We would like however to clarify the definition of what a links course is:  Links courses derived their name as courses built on land that links fertile land to the sea. This is indeed the... More

My all time favourite courses prior to this trip were San Lorenzo in the Algarve closely followed by Waterville in Co Kerry. Oitavos Dunes is ranked ahead of both so my expectations were high.... We played on a hot September day with a mid afternoon tee off as we had landed in Lisbon earlier that day after some early beers... More

Received a green fee as a gift and played here last Monday. Arrived at the Club house around 10:30. After a major issue in not having a tee time booked, I was given a tee time for an hour later. That there was nobody on the course for three holes in front and behind when I played, I was a... More

I have had meals here as part of tournaments and found the food to be beautifully presented and delicious. I have no idea about prices but hear they are on the high side.

This was a golf course about 5 minutes walk from where we were staying at Quinta Da Marinha. Rated 65 in the world, it is a mixture of links and woodland golf. Lovely views tough holes, no water but lots of tough holes and sand all placed at the right places. Cost of 105 euros was fair for a great... More
