Beautiful and rustic dunes golf course! Wonderful layout and landscaping and views. The restaurant has very tasty food. There is no food cart out on the course so bring some water and snacks. The golf cart is NOT included so be prepared to rent one or walk.

This was the first course the 8 of us played in Portugal as it was ranked number one in the country on some lists. We found it it dried out, very average green conditions and expensive with average service. It is a links style course. I suggest you play elsewhere if around Lisbon.

We stayed at the Oitavos Hotel set in this gorgeous part of Portugal. Long rugged beaches, calm inducing landscape.

A great course, natural surroundings, well maintained! Fairways are a bit yellowish but it is the philosophy of the greenkeeper to keep the course as close to the links / seaside feeling as possible. As a bonus the clubhouse restaurant was serving exceptional quality food for a reasonable price. Good job!

I like to play lots of courses when on holiday and this one did not disappoint. As I was waiting on the first tee a member called William came along and invited me to play with him. We got on really well and had some. Good fun on a well presented course with stunning views. The course condition is brilliant... More

Me and my three mates turned up to play this highly acclaimed course expecting great things and we were not disappointed. Yes the buggies are expensive compared to other courses but you do not have to pay you can walk. We all enjoyed the layout and the whole experience and we can see why it is ranked so highly. When... Some of the previous comments on here are needlessly harsh. Oitavos is a good golf course and pleasant experience but I have played most (if not all) the 'top' golf courses in Portugal and this ranks well down the list. The course is well maintained, greens are very good, and some of the holes on the outer section are spectacular... More

My wife and I recently played Oitavos Dunes in late May with another couple. I can't believe this course is ranked #68 in the world. It would not be # 68 in our home state of New Jersey USA. On arrival to clubhouse was unkempt and the staff was unfriendly. The course was poorly maintained as the turf was dry... More

Just played oitavos dunes loved the course but ...70 euros for a buggy really !!! Never paid this much anywhere :( and to compound this the clubhouse bar is closed on a Monday so after a tough round of golf in gale force wind there was nowhere to get refreshment !!

This course was a big disepointment. They want label it as a links. A links course is built on sand close to the sea, no trees and no stones anywhere. Only 3 holse qualifies for that. The condition of the fairways, bunkers and teeboxes is poor. The greens are ok. The way they maintane the hole course is bad, and... More

Dear Mr Peter B. Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you found Oitavos Dunes to be a big disappointment. We would like however to clarify the definition of what a links course is:  Links courses derived their name as courses built on land that links fertile land to the sea. This is indeed the... More
