Go on the boats called "moliceiros", thru the Aveiro lagoon, it´s like the portuguese venice! The Aveiro Lagoon is beyond a mere geographical feature of Portugal. This 45-kilometer-long lagoon stands as one of Europe's last remaining untouched coastal marshland. It is also a haven for numerous bird species. The locals call this rich lagoon Ria de Aveiro. Tourism and aquaculture... More

The idea of a canal trip initially sounded a little cheesy but actually it was really good. The tour lasted an hour and let us see lots of interesting sites we wouldn't otherwise have seen. The guide was great - effortlessly providing the commentary in Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French. I think it cost about 7 Euros although there were... More

This is a must do in Aveiro. The price was reasonable for the time involved and the guide was very good, knowledgeable and amusing. Saw a lot you otherwise would miss. Highly recommend

Even though they had just raised the price from five to eight euros because of the tourist season it is still excellent value for money and the boat staff were superb although not able to speak english they had a book in english detailing all points of interest on the tour and a good way to see the city.

If you think you'll be seeing the Portuguese Venice, you'll be disapointed, but if you know beforehand that you'll only be going to 3 (of 4, it seems) canals, your expectations will be more realistic and you will probably enjoy yourself. I did. The guy that was a mix between tour guide and moliceiro (the name of the typical Aveiro... More

Even on a rainy afternoon, this short boat trip gave us an overview and unique perspective of the city. A must-do for first time visitors

We stopped here in the afternoon on our tour of Portugal. It was great to see the town beside the river and the beautifully painted boats, (which you could take a ride in), going up and down the river. The sun and bright colours of the boats made for some creative shots, but to call this little town Venice is... More
