This place is amazing. A truly must see! You're driving to go see it, and it is right in front of the abandoned hotel, which also makes for a nice visit. At the moment we went it was cloudy, so we drove down to the bridge that splits them, and when we were down there we saw that it began... More

We drove from Ponta Delaga one morning, up mountain the fog was so thick you hardly see the road in front. As we neared the top the fog cleared, the sun came out and we were rewarded with a beautiful view of the lakes in the ancient volcano! They say the lakes have two different colors - green and blue... I enjoyed seeing these beautiful lakes in two volcanic calderas. The view from the surrounding hills illustrate a volcanic landscape .It is amazing to look down on two lakes of different colours .The beautiful pastoral scenery with grazing dairy cattle is enticing . The roads lined with seasonal flowers ,especially hydrangeas were beautiful .

Hello We were taken to the Caldeira by our guide and saw it from many levels. It was foggy in parts but as were able to see it from multiple outlooks, it just added to the experience. great biking and hiking we hope to try next time as well. Very serene and beautiful.

Unfortunately it was an overcast day, but that really didn't take away from the beauty of the mountains and lakes. Beautiful and breath taking!

Even on a cloudy day, this caldera was gorgeous. This is definitely one of the must-sees of The Azores.

We were sent to this place by our Air-bnb host and all the travel guides. When we arrived there, we were apparently lucky with the weather! The sun was shining and there was a clear view on both of the lakes. Indeed the color difference was a bit overrated, but it is there! It is also really quitte (except when... More

Amazing View. Paradise on Earth. Unspoilt nature. Drive down to the lake for a picnic or a meal in one of the traditional restaurants. Ideal for walking, trekking.

Well worth visiting on a sunny day. Stop at the vista point on the eastern side high above the lakes for the best view. Further to the east along the mountain ridge road are two ancient (but not Roman) aquaducts.
