A beautiful area. Stunning views from the rim and quiet idyllic village in the crater. Take a jeep or 4-wheel drive tour and picnic by the blue or green lake.

We were afraid that the January weather in the Azores would be one long rainy experience. Wrong. Our first full day on Sao Miguel we took an excursion to Sete Cidades with perfect weather. It was hard to believe that the derelict hotel at the view point above the lakes had closed because it was fogged in so often. The... More

Loved this area. Highly recommend a jeep tour or 4 wheel drive vehicle to take you around the crater rim to see the beautiful lakes and village in the crater. You can also drive right down to the lake and picnic. Great for couples and families!

These site is an absolute must see. It's like nothing we had ever seen before. Take the hike around the rim and down into the little town of Sete Cidades. Make sure to go on a sunny day otherwise you won't be able to see much of anything. Check spotazores.com each day as the weather changes there rapidly.

This is a great day and the guides were great!! The scenery is beautiful and if you want to take a plunge in the hot pools take the appropriate attire and towels. I did not do this but the ones who did seemed to enjoy it. The lunch was fantastic and included wine. It was one of the best meals... More

With fast changing weather, you have to get somewhat lucky to go on a clear day. We enjoyed renting a UTV so we did not have to drive and could look around and take pics

Absolutely amazing views! It is amazing to see the Sete Ciadades from above, and then to drive down and walk in the village. Be sure to watch for them from the plane as well when you arrive to or leave from Sao Miguel.

The blue & green calderas are fantastic to see especially on a sunny day from up high. The town looks like a fairy tale next to the sparkling lakes and the green rolling hills. Very special.

Very beautiful place to visit, remote so bring your own food and water. There are several trails that you can take if you like to walk and see the craters, otherwise just drive all the way around the volcano. Very beautiful
