This is a wide volcano lagoon in the middle of São Miguel Island in Azores. The whole landscape around the lake is green but the best part is that the lagoon water is half green and half blue giving a more exotic and beautiful look. Recommended.

Beautiful when seen from the high vantage point above the town, the contrasting colours of the green lake and the blue lake come to life.

Beautiful drive, hydrangeas and cows, i felt like this is were fairytales come from. What a view. Pack a picnic and do what the locals do, find a spot with a view and have lunch.

We only went to the view point at about 5 pm when the sun was not out, thus the 2 lakes did not really look blue and green as most of the travel guides show them, but all the same a stunning view that is worth a visit.

It´s not just that you will find yourself inside a volcano, you will be inside YOUR volcano! Quiet, clean, peacefull... Hire a bycicle or take a walk thru the village, enjoy! Plenty palces to have a bite if the exercise get´s you hungry. A lot to explore and all so close.

One of the main sites and very beautiful. Several challenging walks! We enjoyed the cafe by the lake at Sete, in one of the modern square blocks right on the lakeside.

I hired a mountain bike and made the climb up from the coast. It's a beautiful ride around the rim on the gravel roads. Make sure you ride anti-clockwise and you'll get the steep climbs on tarmac and long sweeping downhills on the gravel. Not a technical ride at all, but a bit of puff needed to make the 2K... More

You can't got to the Azores and not see this.. It's breathtaking, we climbed to the top of the hotel to get an even better view, but any view on a clear day is well worth the drive. Didn't get to do a hike, but next time I will!
