Beautiful... We did a circular walk of about 3hrs up from Sete Cidades, around about a 3rd of the crater rim, before dropping back to the village... It may be the corny picture that is in all the brochures, but it shouldn't be missed!

The weather in the Azores can be changeable, but don't go home without seeing this view. It was beautiful and moody with the fog

This view like most in the Azores depends on weather being your friend. The first day we tried to view it. It was invisible due to fog. on the last day, our guide tried again. It was clear for 10 minutes then a thick fog rolled in and obscured it. Worth the wait and both visits.

Driving up from Ponta Delgada, and first stopping by Lagoas Empadadas, the mountain roads take you higher and higher. Each scenic viewpoint is lovely, but your goal is Vista do Rei, or the View of the King. From here you look down at the beautiful valley that time and human effort have made of the volcanic crater. Depending on the... More

A must see in Sao Miguel, great place to hike! If you're lucky you'll have some sun and no clouds and the lakes will have beautiful green and blue colours! If it's cloudy, it's still nice .. but different!

Very impressive view! Go visit the village below for lunch or just to enjoy the place from inside the crater. Weather can be variable, so you need a nice day for the best experience. It is best to hire a car and do the trip in your own time. Driving on the crater ridge is unforgettable but can be a... More

We visited on a cruise line tour. Fortunately, we had good weather and the views just blew us away. It certainly ranks among the best tours we've done, especially as our finisged with a chese and wine tasting back in Ponta Delgada I understand the views are also great in a mist, so we'll probably book a taxi and comehere... Hands down my favorite spot on the island. Absolutely breathtaking. If you can only go to one part of the island it should be here.

One of the most fantastic landscapes on planet Earth! Unmissable at sundown and, when there's a mist, it seems you are inside fairy tale!
