A very interesting military museum giving insite into Portugal's participation in foreign wars. The museum is set inside a fort whichis located on the port of Ponta Delgada, where visitors wend their way through various rooms filled with militaria and written explanations in Portuguese ( but you don't need to knowmthe language to appreciate it). Walk up to the top... More

Cheap admission (Euro3), extensive displays of arms and armaments from the past five centuries, but the best part is walking through the stone tunnels and looking out through the slits and ports of an old Portugese fort.

We came upon the military museum on a weekend when they were offering entrance for free, so the price was perfect! The museum was very interesting and fun to view as we wandered from room to room. Following the stairs to the top offered a fantastic view of the harbour. It was a nice way to spend some time.

For a very reasonable price we were able to view some Azores Portuguese history. We walked through the exhibits and climbed to the top of the fortress walls on a cool damp morning. The museum features many exhibits from the 20th century and doesn't have tonnes of English labelling but was well worth the visit. So far Ponta Delgada has... More

This museum was about what we expected. It was a very windy, wet and cool day so we didn't have much else to do. It was inexpensive.

The museum is only a few euros to see, and eventhough it's not really big, there's lots to see. The few outdoor exhibitions have many military vehicles and artifacts. The neatest exhibition is the underground one, where they have trenches and other great things to see. Also, you can go to the top of the museum where you'll see great... More

The museum was not great at first glance...but heading into the underground was pretty cool...lots of huge guns that you can get right up to..3 euros was worth it...spent maybe 2 hours in there...I would not do it for anymore than that...

This museum is sub-par. The items themselves were not well cared for/preserved and the guards were unfriendly.

Plenty to see in this museum, mainly military items of course but others such as old medical implements, and instruments used by the military band members! The entrance fee was 3 Euros for adults/1 Euro for seniors, so it's definitely worth having a look around. We were able to access the upper area of the fort and got some very... More

The fort itself was worth seeing however there was no access to the upper portion that looks out over the ocean. That was disappointing. We spent about 1 1/2 hours which was plenty to see this museum. It does have a pretty extensive collection to view but you really need to be into this type of exhibit to get the... More
