The walk downhill is 15-30min, back up is..., well let's just say it's longer. But very much worth the hike. Go for a swim in the beautiful lake, dry of in the sun, and bring water to make the climb back up doable.

Perhaps it is not the most known attraction in Sao Miguel but in my opinion it is perhaps the most beautiful. it is a peaceful blue lake with ocean in the back ground, surrounded by green walls of azorean flowers and trees. the lake can be reached by descending steep stairs. it takes about 30 min the way down and... Beautiful, breathtaking, unpredictable. It was foggy when we got there and a few moments later it all cleared away and the view was amazing, well worth the wait.

This place is unpredictable - one day the weather is hot and clear, another - very foggy, anyway - its the place worth to visit. There are trails near the lake, you can go down to the beaches, also can swim, but we did not like. It is a peace of clear nature. Never touched by a man. Splendorable view... More

This was a pretty awesome view, but I liked Sete Cidades better. But even so, this is still a pretty breathtaking place. I'd still go back, maybe do a hike or something. Use the azores cam app to see if there's fog or not before you go.

Yes, Sete Cidades is gorgous, but for me this "Lagoa" is the most beautiful in São Miguel... It really worthes the visit. It was a pity I couldn not go there walking, as I was with my two young kids. Well worthes the visit...

Make sure you visit when the clouds and fog have not rolled in. The views are breathtaking. We hiked down to the lake and it is such a special place. So green and lush. It is much cooler so make sure you bring a sweater and or jacket.

We enjoyed going up the mountain road towards the Lagoa do Fogo and stopping at the view point 900 meters high , Fabulous ! in the village stop at the local ceramic factory.

Lovely to see, difficult to get to, as you have to walk down (then up) to see it up close. The trail is not for amateurs. If you are not that athletic, just stop at one of the overlooks and take it all in. The drive there is nice.

The beauty of the place is indescribable in words. The island of São Miguel, one of the nine Portuguese islands of the Azores, is a paradise on earth.
