Really enjoyed learning about the sardine canning history of Portimao. Well done exhibits on the history of the area, only problem for me was no English translations. The excellent video, The Sardine Game, set in 1948, has English subtitles. More

Interesting to see and to learn some history how south Portuguese people were used to live in the coast. There is also nice staff, always ready to answer to the questions. Well done. More

Portimao used to be a little fishing town, and this museum has reconstructed one of the sardine canning factories using original machinery. Everything is in Portuguese, so ensure you sit and watch the video (from 1946!) just inside the door before looking round the factory - you may not understand the voice over, but you will be able to follow... More
