Great Roman mosaics and very modern presentations of all the artefacts. All is displayed in rooms arranged around the original central courtyard of the great old building. Definately worth a visit and only a few euros. I learnt a lot about Faro's ancient past. They also had interesting modern ceramics and other crafts on display, which gave a nice juxtaposition.

I learnt a lot about Portugal and Faro from a very good exhibition that includes lovely photographs of people, buildings and the railway station during years gone by.

Given other tours in Faro, I found this museum surprisingly good. I was impressed by the stories told in the first room, and found the mosaics impressive.

Enchanting little museum, assisted by a Fado exhibition on the day we went which was really interesting and entertaining. The Roman mosaic floor is a really wonderful exhibit.

As a local this is a museum I strive to always bring my friends too. It is possible to see in each corner of the Museum how it is well cared off. How all exhibitions are taken good care. A room filled with Roman inscrpitions could be just that... but no, the ambience sounds make all the difference bringing us... More

Showed the history of the area but a bit patchy, think they could make more of the information given on each exhibit, room for improvement.

Faro is worth a visit but is not over-endowed in enclosed shopping centres on a cold or damp day. Not that you should only visit the museum during inclement weather. The museum is found in the old town just follow the storks on top of the arch - or at least their nests. The entrance fee of 1 euro is... More

This nice museum is one of the few things Faro has to offer. It is quite lovely and you can visit it during a 1h walk.

It was a cold, windy day in February when we visited this lovely museum. The entry fee was just 1€ per person as we were asked if we were pensioners. The building – an old cloisters – is stunning and there are many surprises to be had when you step through a low arch or through a heavy wooden door.... More

I had planned a day exploring this whole part of Faro, and this was the part I looked forward to the most. It was definitely nice to visit, but the other things I saw that day were much more exciting. The exhibits were well done, though, and the building itself is gorgeous. There was a room with beautiful paintings, but... More
