OK, Myself and my partner absolutely loved the Old Town. Our hotel was in the Oura Beach area and was absolutely beautiful but, for evenings out then it has to be the Old Town. Take a little train from the top end of the strip and it is a 5 minute ride. The Old Town has the most fantastic array... more

What a lovely place Oldtown Albufeira was. So many wee roads and backstreets that had some really interesting shops and boutiques - you could easily get lost and spend the day exploring. Some lovely restaurants for all different tastes. There were a few talented buskars who gave you personal live entertainment whilst having your meal or just sitting relaxing -... more

It is true that in the past the sewage system has been a problem but the Portuguese Government with the help of an EU grant have spent aprox 1 billion euros in bringing the... more

We visited old town Albufeira in march 09. When we arrived half of the streets were dug up, something to do with the sewage coming up, nice. There were some nice places to see but there was always that so annoying restaurant owner badgering you to use there bar. I was stopped every 10 feet with a leaflet. Twice my... more

If you can't afford the taxi to the old town, don't fear! You can buy a ticket for the tourist train which circles the town regularly. First stop is at The Strip. If you walk up the strip towards Montchoro, over a couple of cross roads, you will see the train stop shelter on a side road on the left.... more

The old town was really nice, surrounded by houses built on hills and it was great fun walking through the small alleys to get to the main square. It had places to eat and like little souvenir shops. We went during Christmas and they were decorating the whole square and the little roads, they had all they Christmassy song on... more

I went with my family to the Old Town in Albufeira, Algarve in Portugal in the winter of 2007. It was really sunny with a gentle warm breeze as we walked through the old town. There are little shops to browse and plenty of wine bars and places to eat. A beautiful place of picturesque beauty. x x more
